West Virginia Betting Sites, Apps & Guide

West Virginia passed its sports betting law in March 2018, two months before the Supreme Court cleared the way nationally, and took its first bet at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town that August. Mobile betting settled in from August 2019, when FanDuel and DraftKings went live. Every online sportsbook here runs on the license of one of the state's five casinos, and nine are live today.

West Virginia is also one of the few states with legal online casino games. Below is our list of the best West Virginia apps, followed by a closer look at each one we recommend. Further down we cover the rules on age and college betting, how the state taxes winnings and the questions people ask us most.

Offers checked November 4, 2026. Terms apply to every offer, so read them on the operator's site before you sign up.

West Virginia app reviews

Below is a card for each app on the list, showing the offer we checked, what it does best and how it runs in West Virginia.

1. FanDuel

FanDuel was the first mobile sportsbook to stick in West Virginia, launching on August 26, 2019 through The Greenbrier, where it still runs the resort's retail sportsbook. Its online license moved to Mardi Gras Casino near Charleston in September 2025.

The app is quick to learn, and same game parlays on Mountaineers games take a few taps. FanDuel Casino runs in the same state too.

Read our full FanDuel review, or claim the offer here.

2. DraftKings

DraftKings launched two days after FanDuel on the Hollywood Casino at Charles Town license, and over the 12 months to September 2026 it took more bets than any other book in the state. It also opened West Virginia's first online casino in July 2020.

Daily odds boosts and a deep prop menu are its strengths, and every bet earns credit in Dynasty Rewards.

Read our full DraftKings review, or claim the offer here.

3. BetMGM

BetMGM launched in January 2020 on The Greenbrier's license, and BetMGM Casino runs on the same license. Bets earn BetMGM Rewards points you can use at MGM resorts.

Edit My Bet lets you change a parlay after you place it, which helps when a player is ruled out late.

Read our full BetMGM review, or claim the offer here.

4. Fanatics

West Virginia was the first state where Fanatics fully replaced PointsBet, taking over its sportsbook and casino license in November 2023. Every bet earns FanCash, which you can spend on jerseys and gear or turn back into bets.

Read our full Fanatics review, or claim the offer here.

5. bet365

bet365 is the newest sportsbook in West Virginia. It launched its sportsbook and online casino together on August 27, 2026.

Live betting is its strength, and Early Payout can settle a bet as a winner before the game ends. Soccer and tennis markets run deeper here than at most US books.

Read our full bet365 review, or claim the offer here.

6. theScore Bet

theScore Bet is PENN Entertainment's app on the Hollywood Casino at Charles Town license. It launched here as ESPN BET on November 14, 2023 and switched to theScore Bet on December 1, 2025, and Hollywood Casino games are available inside the app.

Scores, news and stats from theScore app sit next to your bets, so you can follow a game and bet on it in one place.

Read our full theScore Bet review, or claim the offer here.

7. BetRivers

BetRivers runs on the Mountaineer Casino license. Its online casino came first in April 2021 and the sportsbook joined it in June 2022, and the same app has West Virginia's only online poker room.

Read our full BetRivers review, or claim the offer here.

8. Sleeper

Sleeper is where many fantasy leagues already live, and its Player Picks game is one tab away from the league chat. Max and Flex entries pay even with a miss. West Virginia has never passed a fantasy sports law, and Sleeper is among the apps running pick'em here. Its age is 18, three years below the state's sportsbooks.

Read our full Sleeper review, or claim the offer here.

9. Dabble

Dabble's pick'em comes with a social feed where you can copy any public entry and talk through the game in live chat rooms. Dabble runs peer-to-peer contests in West Virginia, the format pick'em apps use here while state law stays unsettled. Players need to be 18.

Read our full Dabble review, or claim the offer here.

10. Betr

Betr Picks lets you stack 2 to 10 More or Less picks, with quick picks on the next play and Dynamic Play entries that can survive a miss. Betr Picks is open in West Virginia from 18. A 2025 bill to license fantasy apps stalled in committee, so these games still run without a state license.

Read our full Betr review, or claim the offer here.

11. ParlayPlay

ParlayPlay offers Higher or Lower slips, Insured entries and Rumble contests against other players, plus weekly contests with cash prizes that cost nothing to enter. A 2016 opinion from the West Virginia attorney general called paid fantasy contests games of skill, and ParlayPlay is one of the pick'em apps active in the state.

Read our full ParlayPlay review, or claim the offer here.

12. Chalkboard

Chalkboard posts every pick and score into a group chat Board with your friends. Entries can be cashed out live, and withdrawals go out every hour. Its peer-to-peer Showdowns and Pulls are open in West Virginia from 18, and Mountaineers and Marshall games are on the board.

Read our full Chalkboard review, or claim the offer here.

13. Underdog

Underdog combines Best Ball drafts, pick'em and Rips card packs with sports prediction markets on its own CFTC-regulated exchange. West Virginia players get the full menu, including college pick'em and drafts, with pick'em in the player-versus-player Champions format. You need to be 18.

Trading involves risk, including total loss on positions

Read our full Underdog review, or claim the offer here.

14. Kalshi

Kalshi is a CFTC-regulated exchange with Yes and No contracts on sports, the economy and the weather, no vig and limit orders at your price. The West Virginia Lottery and attorney general have taken no action against prediction markets, and the state did not join the December 2025 brief other states filed backing Maryland's fight with Kalshi. Kalshi's age is 18.

Read our full Kalshi review, or claim the offer here.

15. Polymarket US

Polymarket US lists sports, politics, economics, crypto and culture contracts, with in-play sports trading and a rebate on filled limit orders. We found no West Virginia enforcement against Polymarket US as of November 2026. Traders must be 18, while the state's sportsbooks require 21.

18+ Only. Restrictions and eligibility requirements apply. Not available in all jurisdictions. Trading is risky. 100% loss can occur. See polymarket.com/tos for more information. The Polymarket US App serves as an independent software provider and affiliate of Polymarket US and Polymarket Clearing, the CFTC-regulated exchange and clearing organization.

Read our full Polymarket US review, or claim the offer here.

16. Novig

Novig is a sports-only prediction market with commission-free pregame trades, live in-game trading and Make orders at your own price. Novig's eligibility page leaves West Virginia open, and its minimum age of 21 matches the state's sportsbooks.

Read our full Novig review, or claim the offer here.

17. ProphetX

ProphetX clears its own sports contracts on a CFTC-approved exchange, charges 2% on net winnings and does not limit winning players. No West Virginia regulator has acted against ProphetX. It takes traders from 18.

Read our full ProphetX review, or claim the offer here.

18. ReBet

ReBet is a social sportsbook and casino where picks go into a feed you can follow and copy in one tap, with daily coin and cash claims. ReBet's official rules leave West Virginia open, and the Legislature did not take up a sweepstakes ban in 2026. Players must be 18.

Sports betting law in West Virginia

The Legislature passed SB 415, the West Virginia Lottery Sports Wagering Act, in March 2018, and it became law without Governor Jim Justice's signature. That put West Virginia ahead of the May 2018 Supreme Court ruling that ended the federal ban. Only the five casinos can hold licenses: Hollywood Casino at Charles Town, Mountaineer, Wheeling Island, Mardi Gras and The Greenbrier. Each one can host up to three online sportsbooks, and operators pay a 10% tax on revenue.

Hollywood Casino at Charles Town took the first bet on August 30, 2018. The first app, BetLucky, went dark in March 2019 after a supplier dispute, so mobile betting really started with FanDuel and DraftKings in August 2019.

A second law in 2019 legalized online casino games on the same casino licenses, and the first site went live in July 2020. Betly became Ember in July 2026 and bet365 arrived a few weeks later.

West Virginia teams to bet on

West Virginia has no major-league teams. Most local bettors follow the Mountaineers and Marshall, plus the Pittsburgh, Washington and Ohio pro teams.

  • West Virginia Mountaineers (college): Big 12 school in Morgantown. Rich Rodriguez returned as football coach in 2025, and Ross Hodge's basketball team won the 2026 College Basketball Crown in his first season.
  • Marshall Thundering Herd (college): Sun Belt school in Huntington. Won the 2024 Sun Belt football title; Tony Gibson took over as coach in 2025.
  • Horse racing: Live thoroughbred racing at Charles Town and Mountaineer.
  • Golf: The Greenbrier's Old White course has hosted PGA Tour and LIV Golf events.
