Sleeper is the app most of my fantasy leagues already live in. Since 2022 it has also had a real-money pick'em game one tab over from the league chat. Sleeper Picks asks you to call higher or lower on a player's projected stat, then stack two to eight of those calls into one entry.

Sleeper's pick'em game is one piece of a much bigger app, and it shows.

Max and Flex Player Picks

Every entry is two to eight higher/lower calls on player projections, and the format you choose sets the risk. Max entries need every pick to hit and pay up to 1,000x on an eight-pick slip. Flex entries start at three picks and still pay if one miss creeps in (two misses on five or more picks), with smaller multipliers in return.

PicksVS pools

Where house-banked picks aren't offered, Sleeper runs PicksVS: peer-to-peer pools with up to 5,000 entries, scored against other users. First place in a Regular pool can pay up to 100x the entry. Beginner and Intermediate pools cap entries at $1.

Team Picks

Team Picks are regulated event contracts on game winners, spreads and totals, run by Sleeper Markets LLC, a CFTC-registered futures commission merchant. They can't share an entry with Player Picks, but they let you back a result instead of a stat line.

Injury insurance and Protected Picks

On NFL, NBA and MLB picks, a player who exits in the first half gets that pick voided rather than counted as a loss, subject to the posted conditions. Protected Pick promos go a step further and return a losing entry as play-through credit on designated slips.

Chat, Squads and your league

The social side is where Sleeper pulls away. Once you have joined Sleeper you get in-app chat, Squads for grouping up with friends, live scores with alerts, and your season-long league one tab over. Sweating a Flex entry in the chat where your league argues about trades beats doing it alone.

What can you pick on with Sleeper?

Sleeper Picks is mostly about player projections, with a few other formats layered on once you have signed up.

Higher/lower Player Picks: Call whether a player goes over or under the projection for points, yards, rebounds or any listed stat.

Max entries: Two to eight picks that all have to hit, paying the top multipliers up to 1,000x.

Flex entries: Three or more picks that still pay with one miss (two misses on five-plus picks), with a minimum 1.25x payout.

PicksVS pools: Peer-to-peer contests where your slip is ranked against other users, with entries from $1 to $500.

Team Picks: CFTC-regulated contracts on which team wins, covers the spread or clears the total.

Banking at Sleeper

Once you've created your account, Player Picks deposits go through a linked bank account (ACH), Visa, Discover, Venmo, PayPal or Apple Pay, with a $10 minimum. Mastercard isn't on the list. Team Picks deposits are bank account or debit card only.

Withdrawals go back to a linked bank account or a saved payment method in your name, with a $10 minimum and a $1,000 cap per transaction. Most requests clear in about 2 business days, and identity verification has to be done before your first cash-out.

Can I play Sleeper Picks on my phone or computer?

Real-money picks are built for the iOS and Android apps. The website handles leagues and scores, but Picks functionality there is limited, so keep the app installed.
