Vermont Betting Sites, Apps & Guide

Online sports betting went live in Vermont on January 11, 2024. The state runs a small, mobile-only market on purpose: the Department of Liquor and Lottery picked three sportsbooks through a competitive bid, and there are no retail sportsbooks at all. FanDuel, DraftKings and Fanatics are the three, and all of them are in this guide.
Below is our list of the best Vermont apps, followed by a closer look at each one we recommend. The rest covers the age rule, the limits on betting Vermont college teams, how the state taxes winnings and the questions people ask us most.
Offers checked November 4, 2026. Terms apply to every offer, so read them on the operator's site before you sign up.

Sports betting law in Vermont
Governor Phil Scott signed H.127 in June 2023. The law let the Department of Liquor and Lottery contract with between two and six mobile operators, chosen by competitive bid, and pay the state a share of revenue. Five companies bid, and in December 2023 the department picked DraftKings, FanDuel and Fanatics. Betting opened on January 11, 2024.
The law doesn't allow retail sportsbooks, and it keeps Vermont college teams off the board unless they're playing in a tournament. In the 2026 session, H.913 proposed a per-bet tax and a ban on sports prediction contracts, but it stalled in committee without a vote.
Vermont teams to bet on
Vermont has no major pro teams, so most bettors here follow the Boston and Montreal clubs, plus the University of Vermont.
- New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins: The most bet teams in the state. The Celtics won the NBA title in 2024.
- Montreal Canadiens (NHL): The other nearby NHL team that Vermont hockey fans follow.
- Vermont Catamounts (college): UVM's men's soccer team won the 2024 NCAA championship. Bets on Vermont college teams are only allowed when they play in a tournament.
Responsible gambling in Vermont
Set a budget before you bet and use the deposit, wager and time limits every licensed app offers. If gambling stops being fun, Vermont Gambling Help, run by the state's Department of Mental Health, offers free and confidential support around the clock through 1-800-GAMBLER or live chat at VTGamblingHelp.org. The Department of Liquor and Lottery also keeps a self-exclusion list: you can sign up online to be blocked from Vermont's sportsbooks for the period you choose.
FAQs
Is online sports betting legal in Vermont?
Yes. Mobile sports betting has been legal since January 11, 2024, regulated by the Department of Liquor and Lottery. Three sportsbooks are live: FanDuel, DraftKings and Fanatics.
How old do you have to be to bet on sports in Vermont?
You must be 21. Pick'em and prediction apps set their own ages, usually 18 or 21, and check it when you sign up.
Which Vermont sportsbook should I download first?
We would start with FanDuel for its easy app and same game parlays. DraftKings is close behind for live betting, and with only three books in the state, many people open all three to compare odds.
Can you bet on college sports in Vermont?
Yes, on most college games. Vermont college teams are off the board unless they're playing in a tournament, and player props on college athletes aren't allowed.
Do you pay tax on sports betting winnings in Vermont?
Yes. Winnings are taxable income for federal and state purposes, and Vermont taxes them at its graduated income tax rates, from 3.35% to 8.75%. Sportsbooks send a W-2G for larger wins.
Can visitors bet in Vermont?
Yes. You don't need to live in Vermont, only to be inside the state when you bet. Skiers and visitors can bet from anywhere within state lines, and the app checks your location before every bet.
