Super Bowl Pick, MVP pick and a +1966 Parlay
Well here we are! It’s Super Bowl Sunday and while we’ve already told you what some of our favorite props are and who the MVP will be, it’s time to predict what will happen in the big game.
Vegas likes the Eagles and there’s a lot to love about that pick. Their defense is stellar and Jalen Hurts had an MVP-worthy season. Hurts completed 66.5% of his passes, threw for 3,701 yards and tossed 22 TD passes vs. just six interceptions. He also ran for 760 yards and 13 scores. Running back Miles Sanders rushed for 1,269 yards and 11 TDs, but never got into the end zone as a receiver.
A.J. Brown led the receiving corps with 88 catches and 11 TDs, while DeVonta Smith had 95 catches for 1,196 yards and seven scores. Tight end Dallas Goedert had 55 catches and three scores for the Eagles and could be a sleeper tonight. The Eagles’ defense allowed just 301.5 yards per game, good for second in the league. They were also seventh in the league in points allowed, giving up just 20.2 points per game to the competition. A lot of folks thing the Eagles’ defense will be the difference maker in this game.
The Chiefs are led by gimpy quarterback Patrick Mahomes (ankle) who threw for over 5,000 yards, 41 touchdowns, 12 interceptions and completed 67.1 percent of his passes. Mahomes also ran for 358 yards and five TDs to lead his team and accounted for four touchdowns in two playoff games, despite being immobile for his last game. Elite tight end Travis Kelce scored three touchdowns in two playoff games and had 12 TDs in the regular season.
Running back Isiah Pacheco racked up 830 yards and five touchdowns and Jerick McKinnon had his best season ever, rushing for one TD but also catching nine scoring passes in the regular season. However, in the playoffs he disappeared, rushing just 15 times for 26 yards and catching two balls for 17 yards and no scores. Wide receiver JuJu Smith-Shuster caught 78 balls for 933 yards and three scores and Marquez Valdes-Scantling caught 42 passes for 687 yards and two scores. Mecole Hardman should be considered a Super Bowl sleeper after catching 25 passes for 297 yards and four scores in the regular season, but was invisible in the playoffs. In fact, touchdowns were only scored by Kelce and MVS in the playoffs.
The Chiefs’ D is not as good as Philly’s but they were 11th in yards allowed at 328.2 per game and were 16th in points allowed at 21.7 per contest.
