MLB Wednesday Picks - August 14

Welcome to another Wednesday here amidst the dog days of summer for Major League Baseball. All 30 teams are on the slate for today with a handful of afternoon games among the action. Let’s not waste any time and get right into Wednesday’s MLB picks for August 14.
MLB Wednesday predictions
Yordan Alvarez Over 1.5 Total Bases (+115)
Washington Nationals vs Baltimore Orioles - Over 9 Runs (-102)
Bailey Ober Over 16.5 Outs Recorded (-140)
MLB player prop pick: Yordan Alvarez Over 0.5 Total Bases (-135)
We’ll begin our MLB picks for Wednesday with a player prop targeting someone tearing the cover off of the ball in recent days – Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez. With an otherworldly triple slash of .478/.586/1.127 with five home runs in his last seven days, it’s safe to say Alvarez is crushing the ball in the heart of the Houston batting order as the Astros are 6-1 on their current road trip to take the lead in the AL West.
With Alvarez scorching hot, the Rays will toss out starting pitcher Zack Littell, a pitch-to-contact hurler who is fine, but not a world-beater at all. With that said, we’re riding the wave with Alvarez and his Over 1.5 Total Bases (+115) prop for tonight.
Washington Nationals vs Baltimore Orioles best bet: Over 9 Runs (-102)
The next game we’ll target for Wednesday’s MLB picks is a matchup in Camden Yards this evening between the Washington Nationals and Baltimore Orioles. The host Orioles will start right-hander Dean Kremer and the Nationals will counter with left-hander DJ Herz. The lefty Herz got into trouble with his pitch count in his last start, as he couldn’t get out of the third inning in his last start on Thursday against the Giants, surrendering four hits, two earned runs with four walks in his 2.2 innings. Kremer is mired through two rough starts to begin August, but they’ve both been on the road against the Blue Jays and Guardians. Kremer is at home, where he’s been worse this season with a 5.40 ERA in seven starts.
Taking the Over 9 Runs (-102) prop tonight is recommended, especially because of Baltimore’s fantastic offense and a matchup of two below-average pitchers who could be chased very early in this one.
MLB player prop pick: Bailey Ober Over 16.5 Outs Recorded (-140)
Our final MLB best bet for Wednesday features the Kansas City Royals vs Minnesota Twins matchup at Target Field today with the Twins’ hulking right-hander Bailey Ober.
Ober has started August in dominant fashion, with two wins in both starts, a 1.38 ERA and a 16:4 strikeout-to-walk ratio against the White Sox and Guardians. In fact, Ober has won four consecutive decisions dating back to July 22 against the Phillies at home, giving up just four earned runs combined in those four decisions. He has been a model of consistency over the last two months, pitching six innings in every start since mid-June. As it relates to the 16.5 Outs Recorded prop, Ober has gone over that mark nine straight times.
We’re taking that consistency and locking in Bailey Ober Over 16.5 Outs Recorded (-140) today at home against the Royals.
