MLB Picks - Wednesday August 7

It’s Wednesday, and we’re in the dog days of summer now that we’re getting into August. These last two months are when the pennant races shape up and, in September, ultimately decided. With a full 15-game slate on tap for August 7th, let’s look at our MLB picks for Wednesday.
MLB Wednesday predictions
Jose Ramirez Over 1.5 Total Bases (+115)
Los Angeles Angels vs New York Yankees - New York Yankees ML (-145)
Taj Bradley Over 16.5 Outs Recorded (-130)
MLB player prop pick: Jose Ramirez Over 1.5 Total Bases (+115)
We’ll open our player prop picks for Wednesday with a player hitting his stride at the right time for a surging Cleveland Guardians team, Jose Ramirez. All J-Ram has done in the last week is put up a hefty triple slash of .397/.407/.870 with three home runs, nine RBI and two doubles. Ramirez has paced the Guardians on their recent vault up the standings and that should be no different in these last two months of the regular season.
Having eclipsed the 1.5 total base mark in six of his last seven games (entering Tuesday), we’re riding the hot hand with Ramirez and his Over 1.5 Total Bases (+115) prop for tonight.
Los Angeles Angels vs New York Yankees best bet: New York Yankees ML (-145)
The next game we’ll target for Wednesday’s MLB picks is a matchup at Yankee Stadium this evening between the Los Angeles Angels and New York Yankees. The Angels will send reliever-turned-starter Carson Fulmer to start against the Yankees’ lefty Nestor Cortes. Fulmer has been stretched out since mid-July but had his best start of the season at home against the Rockies as he tossed six innings of three-hit ball, giving up just two earned runs and adding eight strikeouts.
Cortes has been up and down in July but has also faced a tough stretch, with him facing the Red Sox and Rays twice and the Phillies on the road to the tune of a 6.93 ERA for the month. In his last outing against the Angels, Cortes went over five innings, giving up just two earned runs and five hits in a no-decision. Notable for tonight is that the Angels are a bottom-10 team in OPS against left-handed pitchers this season.
So, an Angels team not good against lefties vs. one of the best teams in baseball? We’ll take the New York Yankees ML (-145) tonight.
MLB player prop pick: Taj Bradley Over 16.5 Outs Recorded (-130)
Our final best bet for Wednesday features the Tampa Bay Rays vs St. Louis Cardinals matchup at Busch Stadium and Tampa’s young phenom Taj Bradley.
We took Bradley last week and hit on the Over 5.5 strikeouts prop, so why not go back to the well again? Bradley’s July was phenomenal, posting a microscopic 0.35 ERA in July with just one earned run allowed through four starts before giving up four earned against the Marlins on July 31st, “ballooning” his ERA to 1.45 for the month. Bradley gets the Cardinals on the road; a below-average offense in OPS, wRC+, ISO and wOBA.
With Bradley notching the Over on 16.5 Outs Recorded in seven of his last eight starts, we’ll take Taj Bradley Over 16.5 Outs Recorded (-130) today against a subpar Cardinals lineup.
