Florida has legal online sports betting, but only one sportsbook. The Seminole Tribe holds the exclusive right to take sports bets under its 2021 gaming compact with the state, and it does that through Hard Rock Bet. The app came back on November 7, 2023 after two years of court fights and opened to every eligible bettor on December 5, 2023.

Below is our list of the best Florida apps, with a plain note on where each one stands legally. The rest explains the age and college rules, why the state doesn't tax your winnings, and the questions Floridians ask us most.

Offers checked November 4, 2026. Terms apply to every offer, so read them on the operator's site before you sign up.

1. Hard Rock Bet

The app itself is clean and quick, with same game parlays, prebuilt parlays and props for the Dolphins, Heat, Panthers and Lightning. Every bet earns Unity by Hard Rock points that you can use at Hard Rock hotels and casinos.

Sports betting law in Florida

Florida never passed a standalone sports betting law. Governor Ron DeSantis and the Seminole Tribe signed a new gaming compact in 2021, and the Legislature ratified it in a May 2021 special session. The compact gives the Tribe the exclusive right to take sports bets statewide, online and in person, until 2051. Because of a 2018 constitutional amendment, letting other sportsbooks in would take a new deal with the Tribe or a statewide vote.

Hard Rock Bet first launched in November 2021, but a federal judge threw out the compact's approval within weeks and the app went dark. The DC Circuit reversed that ruling on June 30, 2023, the Supreme Court later declined to take the case, and the app returned in November 2023. The disputes now are about everyone else. The Florida Gaming Control Commission ordered pick'em apps to drop house-style games in 2023 and again in 2024, and in October 2026 the Seminole Tribe sued DraftKings, arguing that its prediction markets break the Tribe's exclusive rights.

Florida teams to bet on

Florida has teams in every major league, plus three big college football programs.

  • Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Jacksonville Jaguars (NFL): The Dolphins play at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, which hosted seven 2026 World Cup matches.
  • Miami Heat and Orlando Magic (NBA): Two NBA teams, both with deep player prop menus on Hard Rock Bet.
  • Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning (NHL): The Panthers won the Stanley Cup in 2024 and 2025; the Lightning won it in 2020 and 2021.
  • Miami Marlins and Tampa Bay Rays (MLB): Florida also hosts spring training for half of MLB's teams.
  • Inter Miami and Orlando City (MLS): Inter Miami won its first MLS Cup in December 2025.
  • Florida, Florida State and Miami (college): College games are on the board, including these three. Florida won the 2025 NCAA men's basketball title.

FAQs

Is online sports betting legal in Florida?

Yes, through one app. Under the Seminole compact, Hard Rock Bet is the only legal online sportsbook in Florida, and it has been open to every eligible bettor since December 5, 2023.

Can I use FanDuel or DraftKings Sportsbook in Florida?

No. Their sportsbooks are not allowed in Florida while the Seminole Tribe holds exclusive rights. FanDuel and DraftKings do run separate prediction-market apps here, but those are a different product and their legal status in Florida is contested.

How old do you have to be to bet on sports in Florida?

You must be 21 to bet with Hard Rock Bet. Pick'em, prediction and social apps set their own ages, usually 18 or 21, and check it when you sign up.

Can you bet on college sports in Florida?

Yes. You can bet on college games, including Florida, Florida State and Miami. Player props on individual college athletes are not offered.

Do you pay tax on sports betting winnings in Florida?

Not to the state. Florida has no personal income tax. Winnings are still taxable income on your federal return, and Hard Rock Bet sends a W-2G for larger wins.

Can visitors bet in Florida?

Yes. You do not need to live in Florida, only to be inside the state when you bet. The app checks your location before every bet.

Must be 21+ and physically present in Florida to wager. Concerned about your gambling? Call or text 1-833-PLAYWISE.
