U.S. Open Tennis Women’s Singles Winner Picks
The fourth and final Grand Slam of the 2026 tennis season is upon us, as the U.S. Open will get underway on Sunday. It should be an appropriately wild ride in New York City on the women’s side, as there is no dominant player heading into the tournament. A whole host of players have a very realistic chance to take home the title.
Among those on the short list of favorites are Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff, Iga Swiatek, Naomi Osaka, Elena Rybakina and Jessica Pegula. Sabalenka is the world No. 1 and defending champion, but she has struggled for the majority of this season – at least by her lofty standards. Rybakina has been playing well and has a real shot to overtake Sabalenka for the top spot in the rankings by the conclusion of this fortnight, but the Kazakh suffered an ankle injury last week in Cincinnati that forced her to retire from a quarterfinal match against Swiatek.
Let’s break down the odds and the best bets to make for the U.S. Open women’s singles event.

Despite her recent woes, Sabalenka is, without question, the top choice for oddsmakers – and perhaps for the betting public, as well. She is followed by Gauff and Swiatek, after which there is a considerable gap to Osaka, Rybakina and Pegula. French Open winner Mirra Andreeva and two-time major finalist Amanda Anisimova are also among the challengers.

PICK #1: Coco Gauff (+500)
Nobody on the WTA Tour is playing more consistent tennis than Gauff at the moment. The 22-year-old’s three most recent results are a semifinal showing at Wimbledon, a semifinal run in Toronto and a title in Cincinnati. If Gauff can keep double-faults to a minimum – as she did in Cincy – she has a great chance to secure a second U.S. Open title and her first since 2023. That’s because no one is better than Gauff from the baseline. In neutral rallies, she almost always has the upper hand.
PICK #2: Elina Svitolina (+4000)
With Sabalenka in a slump and Rybakina probably not 100 percent physically, this Grand Slam title is more up for grabs than what we normally see. There is unusually enticing value on underdogs, and perhaps the most intriguing player in that category is Svitolina. At 31 years old, the Ukrainian is playing the best tennis of her career. She has reached at least the quarterfinals of seven majors dating back to the 2023 French Open, including the semis twice. The current world #9 was also a U.S. Open semifinalist in 2019.
PICK #3: Marta Kostyuk (+2000)
Staying on the Ukraine train, Kostyuk is another relative longshot worth a look. The 24-year-old is an unbelievable 27-4 in her last 31 matches heading into New York. During this stretch, her only losses are to the eventual French Open champion (Andreeva), the eventual Wimbledon champion (Linda Noskova), the eventual Toronto champion (Swiatek) and the eventual Cincinnati champion (Gauff). That’s right – in Kostyuk’s last six events, she has either lifted the trophy or lost to the winner.
