US Open Tennis Women’s Singles Final Picks

There are plenty of storylines for Saturday’s U.S. Open women’s singles final between Aryna Sabalenka and Amanda Anisimova. It is a second consecutive title match in New York featuring Sabalenka and an American. Last summer, the Belarusian silenced the home crowd by beating Jessica Pegula. This time around, it will be Anisimova on the other side of the net for a rematch of their recent Wimbledon semifinal showdown, won by Anisimova in three sets. Two days following that victory, the 24-year-old infamously lost to Iga Swiatek 6-0, 6-0 in the final. Two months later, Anisimova gets another shot at a Grand Slam title.
Let’s discuss the odds and the best bets to make for Saturday’s championship round.

PICK #1: Amanda Anisimova ML over Aryna Sabalenka (+180)
There is a lot to like about Anisimova’s chances on Saturday, certainly to a much greater extent than the odds would suggest. Obviously, getting zero games in the Wimbledon final is alarming, but Anisimova bounced right back and beat none other than Swiatek 6-4, 6-3 in the U.S. Open quarterfinals on Wednesday. Completely turning the tables on Swiatek was not only an impressive feat but also an especially commendable mental performance. Those double-bagel demons are long gone, so Anisimova should be more than ready to handle this situation in her second Grand Slam final appearance.
Sabalenka is a considerable favorite because she is ranked No. 1 in the world, nine spots better than her opponent. The 27-year-old is also a three-time major champion (two Australian Open titles and one U.S. Open title). Still, her current form is no better than Anisimova’s. She has not yet won a slam in 2025, and she really hasn’t looked dominant this fortnight except in the fourth round (a 6-1, 6-4 win over little-known Cristina Bucsa). Pegula had a real opportunity to beat her on Thursday before falling 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. Anisimova +3.5 games is also a great play, but don’t be surprised if the underdog wins this one outright.
PICK #2: Aryna Sabalenka vs. Amanda Anisimova Over 21.5 games (-110)
Long, competitive matches were the story of the semifinal on Thursday; Saturday projects to be the same. After Sabalenka scraped past Pegula 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, Anisimova outlasted Naomi Osaka 6-7(4), 7-6(3), 6-3. Recent head-to-head history also points toward another close contest. Their July showdown at the All-England Club resulted in 30 games, with Anisimova triumphing 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. Four of their last seven encounters have been three-setters.
Keep in mind that these are two of the biggest servers in tennis, so breaks could be minimal. Even a straight-set match could result in a substantial number of games since we can expect at least one tiebreaker.
PICK #3: Aryna Sabalenka vs. Amanda Anisimova Over 8.5 aces (-120)
This will be a huge-hitting matchup between two players who are spectacular servers but not exactly stellar when it comes to returning. Both women get aced more frequently than most. Over the past year on the WTA Tour, top-50 players on average get aced on 4.1% of their return points. For Sabalenka, it’s 4.4%; Anisimova watches the ball fly past her 4.9% of the time.
At Wimbledon earlier this summer, they aced each other a modest eight times. However, they also met at Roland Garros and produced 14 aces – an especially high number given that it is more difficult to hit an ace on clay and that match did not even go to a third set. Sabalenka did most of the heavy lifting in those matches, striking a combined 17 aces to her opponent’s five. This time, though, Anisimova should be able to keep up. She has blasted 35 aces through six rounds at the U.S. Open.
