Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have monopolized the last seven Grand Slam singles titles on the men’s side dating back to the start of 2024, with four going to Sinner and three won by Alcaraz. Will the youth movement continue at the upcoming U.S. Open, or can Novak Djokovic turn back the clock and capture a 25th slam title?

Those three names, of course, are the biggest in the men’s game. However, they aren’t the only realistic contenders at the U.S. Open. The host nation finally has multiple guys who are potential major champions, among them Ben Shelton, Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe. All three Americans are in the top nine title favorites according to the bookmakers. Let’s break down the odds and the best futures bets to make for the U.S. Open men’s singles event.

U.S. Open men's singles odds

Sinner is the world No. 1 and defending champion. Alcaraz is a former winner at Flushing Meadows (2022) and is coming off a Masters 1000 title in Cincinnati. It’s no secret why these guys find themselves overwhelmingly atop the odds board compared to the remainder of the field. They are followed by Djokovic, Jack Draper, Shelton, Alexander Zverev, Fritz and Daniil Medvedev. Here is the shortlist of favorites:

  • Jannik Sinner +105
  • Carlos Alcaraz +200
  • Novak Djokovic +1400
  • Jack Draper +2200
  • Ben Shelton +2200
  • Alexander Zverev +2500
  • Taylor Fritz +3000
  • Daniil Medvedev +8000
  • Jakub Mensik +10000
  • Lorenzo Musetti +10000
  • Frances Tiafoe +10000
  • Alex de Minaur +10000

PICK #1: Jannik Sinner to win the U.S. Open (+105)

The question that many seem to be asking is: “Sinner or the field?” If that is a fair question, then you would think both Sinner and the field could go off at -110. By that logic, anything in plus money actually represents decent value on the top seed. Sinner is quite simply the best player in the world by a wide margin – at least on any surface other than clay. Even at the French Open, the Sinner was one point away from toppling Alcaraz only to eventually lose in five sets after holding triple-championship point.

Sinner got revenge at Wimbledon in convincing fashion and now he heads to New York having won three consecutive hard-court majors (back-to-back Australian Opens and the 2024 U.S. Open). Given a favorable draw in which Djokovic is in the bottom half with Alcaraz, Sinner has every reason to triumph yet again.

PICK #2: Taylor Fritz to win the U.S. Open (+3000)

Fritz could face Djokovic in the quarterfinals, but the 38-year-old Serb is without question past his prime. The good news for Fritz is that he would not run into Sinner until the final. The fourth-ranked American finished runner-up in New York last summer and is certainly playing well enough to make it back to the title match. He captured two titles on grass before reaching the Washington, D.C. quarterfinals and the Cincinnati semis.

PICK #3: Ben Shelton to win the U.S. Open (+2200)

In 2024, Fritz and Tiafoe faced each other in the U.S. Open semis. Another all-American semifinal showdown could be in the cards again, this time possibly between Fritz and Shelton. The 22-year-old just won the biggest title of his career in Toronto and also advanced to the Cincinnati quarterfinals. Now he is playing in what has to be considered his favorite tournament, as Shelton’s true breakthrough on tour came in the form of a U.S. Open semifinal appearance in 2023.
