Now it’s time for the second major of the year to fill those shoes. The PGA Championship used to be glory’s last shot on the annual tennis calendar, but it now occupies a May date as opposed to August. This season’s festivities are taking place at Aronimink Golf Club outside of Philadelphia, a venue that last served as host way back in 1962. Gary Player won that tournament, and it would be no surprise if another legend of the game lifts the Wanamaker Trophy at the same location 64 years later. After all, Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy are the heavy favorites.

Why wouldn't Scheffler and McIlroy be favored? They are the No. 1 and No. 2 players in the current rankings and have been racking up plenty of major titles in recent seasons. All four of Scheffler’s majors have come since 2022, while McIlroy has won back-to-back Masters. Both are PGA Championship winners, with Scheffler’s triumph coming just last year.
Of course, there are plenty of other storylines involving a whole host of legitimate contenders. Jordan Spieth is playing well again as he gets set for another shot at the career Grand Slam. Cameron Young is on fire and up to No. 3 in the world. It will also be interesting to see how some of the LIV players fare this week amidst the impending dissolution of that tour. Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau are among the top threats to win at Aronimink.

PICK #1: Cameron Young to win the PGA Championship (+1400)
Young is on an absolute heater heading into the second major of the season. The 29-year-old American has placed in the top 10 at six of his last seven tournaments, including victories at The Players Championship and a couple of weeks ago at the Cadillac Championship. This stretch includes a third-place showing at the Masters, his third top-10 result in Augusta and his seventh across the four majors combined. It feels like only a matter of time before Young wins his first big one – and that time could be now.
PICK #2: Xander Schauffele to win the PGA Championship (+2100)
Schauffele has not yet won in 2026, but he has made nine straight cuts since missing his first one of the year at Torrey Pines. And we know this guy can win. The 32-year-old American is a two-time major winner (2024 PGA Championship, 2024 British Open) and an Olympic gold medalist (Tokyo in 2021). He has placed in the top 18 in five of the last seven PGA Championships.
PICK #3: Ludvig Aberg to finish in the top five (+210)
Like Schauffele, Aberg heads to Philadelphia with a consistent string of impressive results. The former Texas Tech standout has made eight consecutive cuts and has finished in the top eight in five of his last six starts. Major success includes a pair of top-seven results at the Masters, including a solo second in 2024. It’s only a matter of time for this super-talented Swede.
