Below is our list of the best Maryland apps, followed by a closer look at each one we recommend. Further down we cover the rules on age and college props, how Maryland taxes winnings and the questions people ask us most.

Maryland app reviews

Each app in the list gets a card here, showing the offer we checked, what it does best and what to know about it in Maryland.

1. FanDuel

FanDuel was one of the seven apps that opened Maryland's mobile market in November 2022, licensed through Live! Casino & Hotel in Hanover. It also runs retail sportsbooks at Live! and at Sports & Social in North Bethesda.

The app is quick to learn, and building a same game parlay on a Ravens or Commanders game takes a few taps.

2. DraftKings

DraftKings has been live in Maryland since the first day of mobile betting. It posts a long list of daily odds boosts, and its player prop menu for the NFL and college basketball goes deep.

Every bet earns credit in Dynasty Rewards, and pools let you compete with friends on the same slate.

Read our full DraftKings review, or claim the offer here.

3. BetMGM

BetMGM is the online sportsbook of MGM National Harbor, which also has a BetMGM retail sportsbook on the Potomac. Bets earn BetMGM Rewards points that you can use at the resort.

Edit My Bet lets you change a parlay after you place it, which helps when a player is ruled out late.

Read our full BetMGM review, or claim the offer here.

4. Fanatics

Fanatics holds its Maryland license through the Washington Commanders and runs the retail sportsbook at the team's stadium in Landover. The app went live on June 1, 2023.

Every bet earns FanCash, which you can spend on jerseys and gear or turn back into bets.

5. bet365

bet365 is the newest big name in Maryland. It launched on August 30, 2025 as the mobile partner of Riverboat on the Potomac in Charles County.

Live betting is its strength, and Early Payout can settle a bet as a winner before the game ends. Soccer and tennis markets run deeper here than at most US books.

Read our full bet365 review, or claim the offer here.

6. theScore Bet

theScore Bet is PENN's Maryland app, licensed through Hollywood Casino Perryville. It launched on day one as Barstool Sportsbook, became ESPN BET in late 2023 and switched to theScore Bet on December 1, 2025.

Scores, news and stats from theScore app sit next to your bets, so you can follow a game and bet on it in one place.

Read our full theScore Bet review, or claim the offer here.

7. Underdog

Underdog added a sports prediction market in July 2026, run on its own exchange under CFTC oversight. Maryland is a Prediction Picks state on Underdog's eligibility page, so pick'em and Best Ball are not offered here, and Underdog is not on Maryland's list of registered fantasy operators.

Trading involves risk, including total loss on positions

8. Kalshi

Kalshi has been CFTC-regulated since 2020 and offers Yes and No contracts on sports, the economy, weather and more. Maryland Lottery and Gaming sent it a cease-and-desist letter in April 2025, a federal judge declined to block the state, and the Fourth Circuit heard Kalshi's appeal in May 2026; Maryland has agreed not to enforce while that appeal is pending.

Read our full Kalshi review, or claim the offer here.

9. Polymarket US

Polymarket US is a CFTC-regulated exchange with markets on politics, economics, finance, crypto, culture and weather, and makers get a rebate on filled limit orders. In Maryland you trade those non-sports markets, and Polymarket is not on Maryland Lottery and Gaming's cease-and-desist list.

Sports contracts are not offered in Maryland; its other markets are.

18+ Only. Restrictions and eligibility requirements apply. Not available in all jurisdictions. Trading is risky. 100% loss can occur. See polymarket.com/tos for more information. The Polymarket US App serves as an independent software provider and affiliate of Polymarket US and Polymarket Clearing, the CFTC-regulated exchange and clearing organization.

Read our full Polymarket US review, or claim the offer here.

10. Novig

Novig is a sports-only exchange with commission-free pregame trades and Make orders at your own price, so Ravens and Orioles games trade against other users rather than a house. Maryland's regulator has not sent Novig a letter, though it warned its own licensees in November 2025 that offering sports prediction markets could put their licenses at risk.

Read our full Novig review, or claim the offer here.

11. ProphetX

ProphetX runs and clears its own sports exchange under CFTC approval from June 2026, charging 2% on net winnings and nothing on parlays. It does not appear on Maryland Lottery and Gaming's list of cease-and-desist letters, and winning players are not limited.

Read our full ProphetX review, or claim the offer here.

12. Fliff

Fliff is a free-to-play social sportsbook with Fliff Coins for fun, Fliff Cash for prize play, free coins every two hours and a daily cash claim. Maryland Lottery and Gaming sent Fliff a cease-and-desist letter in June 2025, but Fliff's own sweepstakes rules still include Maryland, so read them before you buy coins.

Read our full Fliff review, or claim the offer here.

13. Courtside

Courtside is a New York-based free-to-play app where one wallet covers sports picks, pick'em, arcade games and card rips. A bill to ban sweepstakes casinos cleared the Maryland House in 2026 but died in the Senate, so the dual-currency model is still allowed here, and players must be 18 or older.

Read our full Courtside review, or claim the offer here.

14. Onyx Odds

Onyx Odds has the look of a sportsbook app, and its standout feature lets you set a player prop to the line you want. It runs on Onyx Coins and Onyx Cash rather than cash bets, and Maryland's regulator has not named it in any cease-and-desist letter.

Sports betting law in Maryland

Maryland needed a constitutional amendment to allow sports betting, so lawmakers put the question on the November 2020 ballot and voters approved it by about two to one. HB 940 followed in 2021. It allows up to 60 online licenses, each good for a single app, plus several classes of retail license for casinos, racetracks, stadiums and smaller businesses.

Retail betting began on December 9, 2021 at the state's casinos. Mobile betting took another year because the Sports Wagering Application Review Commission was required to review applicants with racial, ethnic and gender diversity in mind. Seven apps launched on November 23, 2022, and more followed through 2023 and 2024. A few have left since, including PointsBet and SuperBook, while bet365 arrived in August 2025.

Maryland banned prop bets on individual college players in 2024. Online casino games are still not legal here; sports betting and registered fantasy contests are the only real-money online options the state regulator recognizes.

Maryland teams to bet on

Maryland has two NFL teams and a big-league ballclub, and Washington's NBA and NHL teams are a short drive away.

  • Baltimore Ravens (NFL): Hired Jesse Minter as head coach in January 2026, replacing John Harbaugh after 18 seasons.
  • Washington Commanders (NFL): Play in Landover, home of Fanatics' retail sportsbook. The team plans to move to a new stadium on the RFK site in Washington, targeted for 2030.
  • Baltimore Orioles (MLB): Craig Albernaz took over as manager for the 2026 season, which ended 79-82.
  • Maryland Terrapins (college): Big Ten school in College Park. Buzz Williams became men's basketball coach in April 2025.
  • Navy Midshipmen (college): The Naval Academy's teams play in Annapolis. You can bet Navy games, but not props on its players.
  • Preakness Stakes (horse racing): Ran at Laurel Park in 2026 while Pimlico Race Course is rebuilt.
