CFB Week 14 Friday Best Picks

Throw out the stats and records (half kidding), it’s Rivalry Week. Friday’s slate absolutely delivers.  Texas A&M-Texas headlines the night on a national scale, yet the Pac-12 desert rivalry between Arizona and Arizona State carries just as much betting intrigue. Even Georgia-Georgia Tech, a series that has produced chaos twice in the last three years, offers value where the number looks inflated.

With five ranked teams across three rivalry environments and three totals or spreads that clash with recent form, this Friday card shapes up as one of the more actionable slates of the season.

Pick #1: Texas A&M vs Texas Over 51.5 (-110) Click Here to Bet

The Texas A&M-Texas rivalry returns to Austin at a time where both offenses enter with clear avenues to production, and the pace, personnel and recent defensive trends point strongly toward an over-friendly script. Texas has allowed 30 or more points in four straight outings, surrendering 38 to Mississippi State, 31 to Vanderbilt, 35 to Georgia and 37 to Arkansas, with each opponent generating chunk plays through the air against a secondary that has steadily deteriorated. Arch Manning has improved at home, stabilizing the Longhorns’ offensive floor, but their once dominant defense simply hasn’t held up.

Texas A&M, meanwhile, has been at its most explosive on the road. Every A&M road game this year has soared over the total: 41-40 at Notre Dame, 45-42 at Arkansas, 38-17 at Missouri and 49-25 at LSU, and Marcel Reed’s dual-threat profile forces defenses to defend vertically and horizontally on every snap.

With KC Concepcion and Mario Craver stretching the field, A&M rarely goes long without landing an explosive play. But it’s the Aggies’ defensive profile that completes the case: their red-zone unit has been one of the nation’s weakest, allowing scores on 93% of opponent trips. Texas should finish drives even if its down-to-down, drive-to-drive offense is lacking.

Pick #2: Arizona -1.5 over Arizona State (-110) Click Here to Bet

Arizona State deserves credit for salvaging its season after Sam Leavitt went down, and Jeff Sims stepping in to win three straight has given this rivalry in Tempe real juice. But ASU’s recent success has come in narrow fashion against offenses that lack explosion, and that matters facing an Arizona team built to punish secondaries that crack.

Noah Fifita has been exceptional down the stretch, throwing eight touchdowns to one interception across Arizona’s four-game winning streak, and his experience (this will be his third start against ASU) shows up in how decisively he attacks early downs.

The Wildcats ranks seventh nationally in pass defense and fifth in turnover margin, while ASU sits near the bottom of the country in third-down conversion rate and continues to struggle clocking negative plays into points. Their red-zone offense has been inconsistent all year, and that inefficiency becomes magnified against a team like Arizona that steals possessions through takeaways.

The spread looks suspiciously low for a road favorite, almost begging bettors to take the Sun Devils outright at home. But the matchup strength sits firmly with Arizona: deeper receiving corps, steadier quarterback play and a defense that can hold up in space.

Pick #3: Georgia Tech +13.5 over Georgia (-110) Click Here to Bet

This is admittedly more of a vibes play than a stats-based selection, but rivalry dynamics often break markets, and Georgia Tech catching 13.5 points feels like exactly that. Georgia has the far better defense on paper, and its red-zone work has been elite, but the Bulldogs’ offense isn’t built on overwhelming speed or explosive athleticism. It’s efficient and structurally sound, yet rarely the type of unit that runs away from a capable offense for four full quarters.

Georgia Tech absolutely has that offense. The Yellow Jackets are top-20 nationally in scoring, top-5 in total offense and have found a rhythm behind Haynes King, who has produced through the air and on the ground with equal confidence. Yes, Tech’s defense leaks badly, but that isn’t necessarily fatal here. This game almost always gets weird, and Tech has repeatedly risen to the moment: last year’s meeting required eight overtimes, and two seasons ago Georgia squeaked out a 31-23 win in this same building.

Getting 13.5 with an offense that can trade scores, in a rivalry that consistently defies projections, is too much value to pass up. Georgia may win, but Georgia Tech hangs inside the number.
