3 Picks for your College Football Saturday - Week 3

oddscrowd image

After a wild weekend that flipped the script on the 2022 college football season, are you ready to do it all again? This week we have two games between ranked opponents, and a number of top non-conference games being played.

Probably the biggest game of the day is between Miami and the Aggies. Texas A&M are fresh off their upset loss to Appalachian State, so it will be interesting to see if they can bounce back. The drums might start beating for coach Jimbo Fisher if they can’t get the W.

Another team looking to bounce back are the Oregon Ducks in their home matchup against BYU. They got spanked two weeks ago 49-3 against Georgia. Granted they did have a win last week, but against Eastern Washington (FCS School). BYU had a massive win over then No.9 Baylor (26-20 in a crazy double OT) last week. So, it’ll be a tough matchup for Oregon.

Here are our three best picks for the day.

BYU @ Oregon: Oregon to Cover

We think there is a pretty large early season recency bias at play here. The Moneyline pushed out from -270 at the open to it’s current quote at the time of writing at -167 with Unibet (best odds in the market).

This is a huge reaction. Oregon started the season ranked 11th, but have quickly fallen. This is mostly due to their opening loss to Georgia 49-3. But Georgia are ranked 3 in the country, with a beast of an offence. If you take a look at BYU, their win last week in double OT was lucky. Without a few things going their way, they could’ve easily lost. If they did, then we think the line would’ve looked much like the early quote.

Pick: Oregon -3.5

Kansas @ Houston: In the Algorithm we trust

Highlighted in last week’s email, the OddsCrowd algorithm picked the Marshall Moneyline at +850. So we are giving airtime to another one of it’s picks this week. It is seeing an 8.5% Edge (at the time of writing) on the Moneyline for Kansas as they take on Houston away.

To give us further confidence behind the pick, we also have a regularly solid on OddsCrowd Egross1075 also liking the look of them. See more Free Picks from the OddsCrowd Algorithm and the OddsCrowd Community here.

Missisippi State @ LSU: LSU Spread

Mississippi State has been impressive so far, starting the season 2-0 in a dominant fashion, and have easily covered the spread in both. Will Rogers has thrown for 763 yards and nine touchdowns, pretty impressive for a young man. Everything has been clicking for the Bulldogs to start the season. Will this dominance continue at LSU? LSU have a notorious home field advantage. There has also been a 5 point swing in the Spread away from LSU…

We think this is too big, and think the recency bias early in the season is playing too big a role. We’ll be taking Tigers at home to cover the spread.

Pick: LSU +2.5
