PICK #1: Penn State Nittany Lions to win National Championship (+750)

The Big Ten has become the conference of champions in this sport, and much like Ohio State and Michigan before them, the Penn State Nittany Lions are following a specific blueprint that could pay dividends come January.

For starters, Penn State has far more experience at quarterback compared to most of the other top teams across the country, with Drew Allar returning for his third season under center. Couple that with a completely revamped wide receiver room, an experienced offensive line and the best running back duo in the country, and you have a team that profiles very similarly to what we’ve seen win national titles in recent years.

The schedule is also one that breaks very favorably for James Franklin’s team, and it’s very possible that the Nittany Lions secure a first-round bye in the 12-team playoff after winning the Big Ten title. From there, this ticket has tremendous value, so let’s lock it in at this number while we still can.

PICK #2: Alabama Crimson Tide to win National Championship (+1100)

Few teams have higher upside than Alabama heading into 2025, and part of the reason we are getting a double-digit number on the Crimson Tide to win it all is their disappointing season a year ago. However, when you analyze last season, Alabama still should’ve made the playoff if one or two plays went its way against Vanderbilt and/or Tennessee.

This is an absolutely loaded roster for Kalen DeBoer, and the former Washington head coach has linked back up with offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb to spearhead a unit that has one of the best offensive lines in the country, along with gamebreakers on the outside in Ryan Williams and Germie Bernard.

Defensively, the Crimson Tide are near the top 10 in returning production from a year ago, including 13 players who registered more than 200 snaps last fall. Lastly, outside of tough road spots against Georgia and Auburn, this is a manageable schedule for a coaching staff that is one of the best in the nation and a team that should be out for blood following a disappointing end to last season.

PICK #3: Utah Utes to win the Big 12 (+650)

The Big 12 is the most competitive conference in the nation, but the Utah Utes are a team that has everything in place to win the league this year. Utah was ravaged by injuries a season ago, but Kyle Whittingham’s team should be primed for a bounce-back campaign in 2025.

After two seasons of poor quarterback play, the Utes upgraded massively on offense, with the dynamic and elusive Devon Dampier coming in from New Mexico at quarterback, along with offensive coordinator Jason Beck. Dampier is one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the nation, and he should be in position to succeed behind the best offensive line in the country.

As for the defense, Morgan Scalley’s unit can be trusted to be consistent every year. As long as the Utes can finally avoid the injury bug, this unit should have an extremely high floor, making Utah one of the more balanced teams in the conference. Add in the fact that Utah gets to host nearly all of the top contenders in the Big 12, and you have a recipe for a Big 12 title game appearance.
