The Red-hot Nets visit the Heat in Miami on Sunday - Preview, Pick and Props!

After the Nets blinked and snapped their 12-game winning streak with a weird loss in Chicago they bounced back and took care of business in New Orleans on Friday night when Kevin Durant went off for 33 points and 10 rebounds. KD is making a strong run in the MVP race and the fact the Nets are 15-1 over their last 16 games is helping his case. He’s currently at +650, which is still a deal, in my opinion. Luka Doncic is at +300, Giannis is at +350, Jayson Tatum is +370 and Nikola Jokic is +425. But if we have a spare $100 laying around in my Vegas hotel room we’re throwing it at Durant. Miraculously, the Nets’ injury report is completely empty, meaning they should be running at full strength today. Nicolas Claxton had five blocks in that win over the Pelicans and now leads the league in blocks per game. Kyrie Irving is averaging 23.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, a steal, a block and 2.7 3-pointers in January and Ben Simmons is averaging 7.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 3.0 steals in his three January games (to go along with 5.7 points).

The Heat have won five of their last seven games with solid wins coming at Utah, L.A. Clippers and Phoenix and we’re starting to see Victor Oladipo’s name popping up in box scores. In fact, in Friday’s win at Phoenix he actually led the team in scoring with a season-high 26 points, four 3-pointers and two steals on 7-of-10 shooting off the bench. And yes, Jimmy Butler played in that game and had 20 points, five boards, six dimes and two steals. The oft injured Dipo actually played 34 minutes in that game and has scored in double digits in four straight games. He’s a bargain in all formats right now and might finally be getting healthy after a rough three years. Unlike the Nets, the Heat injury report is littered with names. Bam Adebayo (thigh) and Tyler Herro (back) are game-time decisions, Caleb Martin (quad) is doubtful, and Dewayne Dedmon (foot) and Gabe Vincent (knee) are probable for tonight. Nikola Jovic (back), Duncan Robinson (finger) and Omer Yurtseven are out for the Heat.

The Nets are cooking and look like the best team in the NBA over the last month and we’re not worried about them having a South Beach hangover today. We’re taking the Nets minus the points against the banged up Heat.
