Sunday's NBA slate features Joel Embiid and the 76ers visiting the Lakers and a potential rematch of Damian Lillard and Luka Doncic in Portland.

The Sixers will visit the Lakers for Sunday’s late game and should be one of the better matchups of the day. The Sixers come into this one on a one-game winning streak after getting a one-point win at Utah on Saturday night, while the Lakers come in on a two-game losing streak after a loss at Denver on Monday and a loss to the Mavericks in Thursday’s double-overtime thriller.
The Sixers’ injury report is pretty clean except for Tobias Harris, who sat out on Saturday night against the Jazz. It was the first of a back-to-back set so the expectation is that Harris will likely be out there tonight against the LeBron James and company.
The Lakers are listing Patrick Beverley (illness, hip) as questionable for this one, Anthony Davis (foot), Austin Reaves (hamstring) and Lonnie Walker (knee) are out, and, per usual, LeBron is probable with a sore left ankle. LeBron had 24 points, 16 rebounds and nine assists in that overtime loss to Dallas, while Russell Westbrook came off the bench for 28 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three 3-pointers to lead the way for Los Angeles. Wenyen Gabriel played 38 minutes and hit 6-of-8 shots for 14 points, seven boards, two steals and two blocks in the overtime loss and might be worth streaming in fantasy, while Thomas Bryant continues to start at center. Bryant had 11 points and nine boards in the last one but will have his hands full with Joel Embiid tonight.
Embiid had 30 points, seven boards, two blocks and two 3-pointers, including a game-winning jumper against the Jazz. James Harden went off for 31 points, six boards, 11 assists and four triples, and Tyrese Maxey added 21 points and five 3-pointers in that one, but hit just 7-of-20 shots. Shake Milton added 17 points and three 3-pointers off the bench for his best January game but scored just four points in his previous game, playing just 15 minutes. We don’t trust him enough to recommend him in fantasy right now and De’Anthony Melton was quiet in that one. Look for Melton to play better tonight.
The Sixers handled the Lakers 133-122 in overtime on Dec. 9, despite the Lakers having both Anthony Davis and LeBron in that one. Embiid had 38 points, 12 boards and five assists, Melton scored 33 with eight triples and Harden had 28 points and 12 assists. Oddscrowd top performer bodysurfoceanside likes the over of 234 in this one and the algorithm gives the Lakers’ moneyline a 2.1 percent + EV Edge at +140 tonight.

Update: Luka Doncic is out for rest. Christian Wood should play.
The Mavs are at the Blazers for a weird back-to-back after the Blazers waltzed to an easy 136-119 win on Saturday night. The Blazers got 36 points, 10 assists and four 3-pointers from Damian Lillard and all five starters scored in double digits for Portland. Jusuf Nurkic had 22 points, 11 boards and three 3-pointers against the center-less Mavs, Anfernee Simons added 21 points and three triples, Jerami Grant had 16 points, five boards, four assists, two steals and a block after burning us for just one rebound against the Cavaliers on Thursday. Grant has had at least four rebounds in five of his last six games, so Thursday was a flukey bust. Josh Hart had 11 points, four rebounds and six assists to round out the starters scoring for the Blazers on Saturday night. Shaedon Sharpe scored 12 off the bench and Gary Payton had 10 points in that one. Nassir Little (hip) and Justise Winslow (ankle) are out tonight.
The Mavs didn’t look great on Saturday and Luka Doncic proved he’s human by hitting just 7-of-19 shots, 0-of-5 3-pointers and just 1-of-6 free throws for 15 points, six rebounds and 10 assists in 36 minutes. That was Luka’s worst game of the season and marked just the second time this season he failed to score at least 20 points. He had just 19 points against Minnesota back on Dec. 19 but bounced back in a big way afterwards. He went for 25, 50, 32, 60, 35, 51 and 39 points in his next seven games and we fully expect him to bounce back tonight, assuming he plays. Luka and Damian Lillard got chippy with each other on Saturday and it will be interesting to see if there’s any lingering bad blood tonight. Reggie Bullock stepped up with his best game of the season on Saturday, hitting 8-of-10 shots (all 3-pointers) for a season-high 24 points. It was tough to see that one coming after he had scored in single digits (or zero points) in his previous eight games. But Tim Hardaway Jr. left with a left ankle injury last night which could be a good sign for Bullock again tonight. Spencer Dinwiddie led the Mavs with 25 points and four 3-pointers, while Christian Wood sat out with an ankle injury on Saturday.
The Mavs will be without Maxi Kleber (hamstring) again tonight, while Dorian Finney-Smith missed his 13th straight game with a hip injury. He’s questionable for tonight. Josh Green missed his 19th straight game with a right elbow injury and is also questionable for tonight, along with Hardaway. If DFS, Green and Hardaway are all out tonight, Bullock is going to have to step up again, making him an interesting fantasy option. Wood will likely be a game-time call tonight but our guess is that he’ll play after sitting on Saturday. Additionally, Luka props are not available as of Sunday at 1 p.m. so this could be a sign that he could rest tonight, especially given that it’s a back-to-back and he’s been carrying a heavy load. We’re picking the Mavs tonight but if Luka ends up in street clothes, we will be flipping our pick to the Blazers. Whether or not Wood plays will also be an important factor in the outcome of this game. Be sure to check the injury report right up until game time tonight before making you decisions or wagers.
The Mavs beat the Blazers in their two previous meetings before Saturday’s disaster and they’ll be looking to tie the series up at 2-2 with a win tonight. Top Oddscrowd performer Reign80 likes the Mavericks moneyline at +194 and the Oddscrowd algorithm gives Dallas a 3.4 percent +EV Edge to the Mavs’ moneyline at +200. The algorithm also gives the under a 2.3 percent + EV Edge to the under of 222 at -105 at DraftKings.
