Stanley Cup Final Game 7 Picks - June 24
For the first time since 2019, the Stanley Cup Final is headed to a Game 7. It looked as unlikely as ever when the Florida Panthers took a 3-0 lead over the Edmonton Oilers, but Connor McDavid and company have even things up at 3-3. To help add even more excitement to the winner-take-all matchup, we’ve shared our best Stanley Cup Final Game 7 picks for Monday, June 24.
Stanley Cup Final Game 7 Predictions
Pick #1 - Panthers money line over Oilers (-115)
Pick #2 - Over 5.5 Goals (+120)
Pick #3 - Matthew Tkachuk Over 0.5 Assists (+115)
Stanley Cup Final Game 7 picks: Florida Panthers ML over Edmonton Oilers (-115)
As we’ve shared throughout the 2024 Stanley Cup Final, winner predictions are undoubtedly the most difficult way to handicap the series. We entered the series predicting an Oilers victory, and obviously, the Panthers had us thinking that was all but over.
Then, while we loved Edmonton from the jump, we still expected that Florida would ultimately close things out in one of the past two games. Again, McDavid showed us why he’s considered the best skater in the world.
So, will the Panthers hoist their first Stanley Cup in franchise history, or will Edmonton bring it back to Canada for the first time since 1993? With the series heading back to South Florida, and with the Panthers having the experience after being here just last season, it looks to be their time.
There is no denying that the momentum is with the Oilers, but as the great Mark Messier continues to repeat, momentum is far more important within games rather than from game to game. After all, The Captain knows quite a bit about Game 7s in the Stanley Cup Final.
We’ll get more into who we expect more from on the Florida side of things with our best player prop, but we’ll get our Stanley Cup Final Game 7 picks with the Panthers money line on home ice and to hoist the Cup at the Oilers’ expense.
Stanley Cup Final Game 7 picks: Over 5.5 Goals (+120)
What we love even more than predicting a winner for Game 7 is making a play on the total. That’s also something we’ve repeated throughout the Stanley Cup Final, and it has been treating us well.
We’ve been on high-scoring games throughout, and they have been winners in each of the last four games. We needed some empty-net action in the most recent matchup, but the three games prior ended with at least seven goals, including that 8-1 Edmonton victory in Game 4 that completely turned the series on its head.
So, we clearly know that the Oilers can do their part, and we certainly expect multiple goals at the very least with the Panthers back on home ice. Similarly, Stuart Skinner made quite a few uncharacteristically great saves in Game 6, and we expect Florida to capitalize on those opportunities this time around.
Stanley Cup Final Game 7 picks: Matthew Tkachuk Over 0.5 Assists (+115)
Speaking of Panthers skaters that need to step up, that is where we are targeting Matthew Tkachuk. He’s been considered as the primary reason as to why Florida was able to take that next step, making the Stanley Cup Final in each of the past two seasons. He’s the perfect balance of physicality and stick skills, but this tail end of the postseason has not been his best. You wouldn’t expect as much, especially after he got injured in last year’s Stanley Cup Final.
Tkachuk was finally able to get in the box score in Game 5, but that was after a six-game stretch in which he scored just a single point. He needs to work on controlling the physicality that he brings to the ice, as it led to a penalty early in Game 6. It’s a great attribute to have, but he can’t help the team if he’s not on the ice. With all eyes on tonight’s Game 7 and so much expected from Matthew Tkachuk, we’ll round out our Stanley Cup Final Game 7 picks with an assist from the Panthers star.
