Stanley Cup Final Game 2 Picks - 10 June

Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final saw the Florida Panthers take the 1-0 series lead over the Edmonton Oilers. It’s a quick turnaround for Game 2, as the two teams face off just two nights later. As we get ready for the action in South Florida, we’ve shared our best Stanley Cup Final Game 2 picks.
Stanley Cup Final Game 2 Predictions
Pick #1 - Oilers ML (+120)
Pick #2 - Over 5.5 Goals (-110)
Pick #3 - Zach Hyman - Anytime Goalscorer (+125)
Stanley Cup Final Game 2 picks: Edmonton Oilers ML (+120)
For those who saw the final result of Game 1, a 3-0 Panthers victory may have you imagining a dominant game from Florida. However, that was far from the case. The Oilers were the better team from the opening puck drop.
Edmonton outshot Florida 14-4 in the first period, but Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky stood on his head. He stuffed the great Connor McDavid multiple times, which is not something that we expect to continue.
Similarly, the Oilers going 0-for-3 on the power play is also not a struggle we anticipate continuing, as they’ve been the best with the man advantage this postseason by a longshot. After analyzing some advanced metrics per Moneypuck, Edmonton comes away with a Game 1 victory 87% of the time, which is a remarkably high rate for a team that never once found the back of the net.
Although they’ll be on the road yet again, no travel is needed for the Oilers, so we expect them to even the series at 1-1 before the long trip back up to Canada.
Stanley Cup Final Game 2 picks: Over 5.5 Goals (-110)
One of the primary reasons we’re predicting that Edmonton can bounce back is that we don’t expect Bobrovsky to make some of the unlikely saves he made in Game 1, which should also lead to a much higher-scoring game.
The best way to illustrate that is to utilize Moneypuck yet again, which also shares expected goals. In that regard, the Oilers' expected goals were nearly six themselves, which would already be enough to go over the set total.
A low-scoring Game 1 is exactly what we needed for the total to remain at 5.5 rather than ticking up to six goals, so we’ll gladly hop on the value while we still have it. Each of the two regular season meetings between these teams also went over this total, giving us even more confidence that we’ll see at least six goals in Game 2.
Stanley Cup Final Game 2 picks: Zach Hyman - Anytime Goalscorer (+125)
Speaking of their regular season games, it was Connor McDavid with the most points for Edmonton against Florida, as you’d expect. While taking the world’s best skater to record multiple points is certainly a strong play as well, we’re going to provide a different approach as well.
Many fans may immediately think of Leon Draisaitl, and rightfully so. However, there is another skater who has been fantastic for the Oilers but isn’t quite the household name of the dynamic duo. Zach Hyman should certainly be getting to that point, especially with the postseason that he’s having.
His 14 goals are the most by any skater in these playoffs, and being ahead of McDavid and Draisaitl in any statistic is impressive. Hyman also had the most expected goals individually than any skater on Saturday night, so that’s how we’re rounding out our best Stanley Cup Final Game 2 picks.
