The Edmonton Oilers have faced elimination four times in the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs, and they’ve answered the bell all four times. That has them hosting the Florida Panthers for a Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final tonight, and we’re here to break down the matchup with our best Stanley Cup Final Game 6 picks for 6/21.

Stanley Cup Final Game 6 Predictions

Pick #1 - Panthers ML over Oilers (+105)

Pick #2 - Over 5.5 Goals (-110)

Pick #3 - Aleksander Barkov Over 0.5 Assists (+115)

Stanley Cup Final Game 6 picks: Florida Panthers ML (+105)

Like Game 5, predicting outright winners for this Stanley Cup Final is undoubtedly the most difficult approach. However, that’s what we’re here to help with, and we have the Panthers finally closing things out where they expected to just six nights ago.

The flight back to Edmonton is long, but it’s clear that Florida needs time to regroup. The last time they were inside Rogers Place, the pressure of the Stanley Cup got to them, as the prestigious chalice was in the building. The team has admitted as much, not to mention that they had important people make the long trek for the game as well.

Many fans expected that Game 5 back near South Beach would help remedy that, but that is where the pressure is even greater. So, for the first time in nearly a week, Florida can finally play with the same mindset that they did in the first three games of the series, where they put themselves in position for a sweep.

We expect Connor McDavid and the Oilers to be here again, but for now, it looks to be the Panthers’ time to hoist the Stanley Cup.

Stanley Cup Final Game 6 picks: Over 5.5 Goals (-110)

If you’d prefer not to sweat out the first of our Stanley Cup Final Game 6 picks, consider targeting a high-scoring game. This is an approach that we’ve been consistent with, and frankly, the fact that the total hasn’t ticked up to six goals is quite surprising.

Either way, we’ll gladly hop on the opportunity, especially after what we’ve seen in the most recent games. While this approach certainly didn’t pay off for us to begin the Stanley Cup Final, the past three games finishing with seven, nine and eight goals has still made it profitable for us.

Florida goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky has demonstrated the regression we expected, and while he’s more than strong enough to help the Panthers pull off the win, shutting out Connor McDavid and company like Game 1 is all but a pipe dream.

Similarly, Florida got some offense out of Matthew Tkachuk for the first time in what feels like forever; he scored his first goal in nine games on Tuesday night. Along with short-handed goals coming left and right, expect another matchup with plenty of fireworks.

Stanley Cup Final Game 6 picks: Aleksander Barkov Over 0.5 Assists (+115)

The spark for some of those fireworks should be a skater alongside Matthew Tkachuk, which would be captain Aleksander Barkov. There is still a strong chance of him winning the Conn Smythe Trophy if Florida indeed closes things out, and rightfully so.

Much has been made about his matchup with Connor McDavid, and while he may not match him point-for-point, what he brings outside-the-box score is crucial. Of course, for our purposes, we are still focused on the box score.

Barkov is a great balance of scoring and passing, but with more opportunity in terms of assists, that’s our approach for our Stanley Cup Final Game 6 picks. After all, he’s had double the number of assists (14) than goals (7) this postseason. So, let’s snag another plus-money pick to close things out.
