Seahawks vs Lions NFL Week 4 picks

Three weeks into the NFL season, we’re starting to see the good teams separate from the not-so-good teams with multiple weeks of data available. The latter of the two games on Monday Night Football for Week 4 is an NFC showdown between the Seattle Seahawks and the home team, Detroit Lions.
We’ve got the Seahawks vs Lions picks for Monday night’s game, so let’s jump right in!
Seahawks vs Lions NFL Week 4 picks
Pick #1 - Detroit Lions -3.5 (-110)
Pick #2 - Under 46.5 Points (-110)
Pick #3 - Jared Goff Under 238.5 Passing Yards (-110)
Seahawks vs Lions picks: Lions -3.5 (-110)
We’ll begin our NFL picks for Monday Night Football by choosing the Lions to cover the spread. With the Lions at home, they have a solid advantage over the Seahawks, who travel east across several time zones.
While both defenses are stout, the offensive line for the Lions has the biggest advantage in this matchup, not to mention the two quality running backs running behind that offensive line. Both David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs will be able to keep the pace squarely in Detroit’s favor tonight.
Add in Amon-Ra St. Brown and the explosive big-play ability of Jameson Williams, and you’ve got a recipe for the Lions to get out to a lead and salt it away how they see fit. For that, take the Lions to cover the 3.5-point spread (-110) at home against the Seahawks.
Seahawks vs Lions best bets: Under 46.5 Points (-110)
For the next pick for the Seahawks vs Lions Monday Night Football matchup, take the Under 46.5-point line. The Lions have been one of the most stout defensive units in football, allowing the seventh-fewest points per game at just 17.6 points and are led in the pass rush by Aidan Hutchison, who has a team-high 6.5 sacks in just three games.
Don’t count out Seattle’s defense as well, as there’s a big reason why the Seahawks brain trust sought out the former Baltimore Ravens’ defensive guru as head coach after Pete Carroll retired. Mike Macdonald has his Seahawks buzzing, with the second-best overall defensive EPA per play through the early season.
We have two excellent defenses here and two opportunistic offenses with playmakers on both sides. However, knowing how strong these defenses are, it’s hard to expect the defenses to give tonight, considering the Seahawks are 3-0 and the Lions are at home and looking to keep pace with the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC North. We love this game to stay Under 46.5 points (-110) for tonight.
Seahawks vs Lions player props: Jared Goff Under 238.5 Passing Yards (-110)
Our final Seahawks vs Lions pick for Monday night is taking the under on Jared Goff’s passing yardage line, set at 238.5. Goff has gone under this passing yardage total in both wins this season at home against the Rams in Week 1 and last week in Arizona.
The Lions typically play their cards pretty close to the vest, well, unless it’s fourth down, of course. Still, the Lions are pretty cut and dry with their approach in macro-game situations, where if they’re up later in the game, they’re salting away time with David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. That should be the case here, as while Seattle has looked impressive under new head coach Mike Macdonald, matching up with Detroit at Ford Field is a tall order.
Seattle is second in the NFL in defensive EPA per pass play, so the former Ravens’ defensive guru Macdonald should be able to keep the Lions under wraps in that aspect. While the Lions will find a way to eke out a victory on Monday night, it won't be because of a pass-heavy game plan. We’ll take Goff under 238.5 passing yards (-110) tonight.
