The Raptors (4-3) visit the Nuggets (3-3) at Ball Arena for a 9:00 PM ET tip. Denver's points this season have come from the backcourt and the center, not the forwards. Jamal Murray has scored 35 or more in three of his last five games, Nikola Jokic has scored 18 or more in all five, and Christian Braun has been the steady third option. Aaron Gordon is the starter the ball tends to skip. We're backing Braun over his points line and Gordon under his points-plus-rebounds number.

Denver is a 4.5-point favorite coming off a 118-110 home loss to Portland. Toronto plays without Kawhi Leonard (knee), and Jakob Poeltl is questionable with left shoulder bursitis after missing both games in Los Angeles. For Denver, Cameron Johnson is probable after grabbing the back of his leg late against Portland. Lineups are projected, with Murray, Braun, Johnson, Gordon and Jokic expected to start for the Nuggets.

Raptors vs. Nuggets Predictions

  • Pick #1: Christian Braun Over 12.5 Points (-112)
  • Pick #2: Aaron Gordon Under 19.5 Points + Rebounds (-126)

PICK #1: Christian Braun Over 12.5 Points (-112)

Braun has played 33 to 40 minutes in all six games, good for 15.2 points a night on 53% shooting. His game log reads 7, 15, 9, 15, 31 and 14, so he's cleared 12.5 four times. Yes, the 31 at Phoenix came on 7-of-9 from three. Take it out and he still averages 12 in the other five, with three of them over this line.

Toronto's defense has let opposing guards run wild on this road trip. Luka Doncic scored 45 for the Lakers, and Kobe Sanders put up 26 for the Clippers. With Murray pulling the first defender, Braun gets the next look. The -112 price implies 52.8%.

Braun doesn't create much for himself, so a cold night from deep can sink this. He scored nine against Golden State on 1-of-4 from three. If Johnson's hamstring keeps him out, more of the wing shots go Braun's way.

PICK #2: Aaron Gordon Under 19.5 Points + Rebounds (-126)

Gordon is averaging 11.5 points and 6.0 rebounds, 17.5 combined, two short of this number. He's shooting 35.8% and hasn't taken more than 10 shots in any game. By game, his points plus rebounds go 26, 12, 11, 26, 19 and 11. Four unders in six. Against Portland he finished with five points and six boards in 30 minutes while Murray scored 35 and Jokic 26.

At -126, the implied chance is 55.8%.

He has beaten this line twice, with 20 points and 6 rebounds in the opener at Oklahoma City and 15 and 11 at New Orleans, so one big night is enough to lose it. Portland outrebounded Denver 53-37, and a push on the glass could add a few boards. If Poeltl sits again, Toronto is thinner inside. Johnson's status matters less than you'd think: in the three full games Johnson missed, Gordon went over this number once.
