Green Bay (4-2) brings a three-game winning streak into Ford Field for a 4:25 PM ET kickoff on Fox, and it gets Josh Jacobs back. The Packers activated their lead back from the commissioner's exempt list for his first game of the season, though nobody outside the building knows how much he'll play. Detroit (3-2) comes off its bye with the league's second-best scoring offense at 32.8 points a game. It also allows 29.6, 30th in the league, and no team gives up more passing yards per game.

The market has moved toward the Lions. Detroit opened as a 2.5-point favorite and is laying 3.5, and the total has climbed from 50.5 to 55.5. Green Bay has ruled out linebacker Zaire Franklin (shin), and Micah Parsons is still working back from last season's torn ACL. Jordan Love got banged up in the win over Dallas, but he practiced fully at the end of the week and carries no game status. Detroit lists safety Brian Branch and center Cade Mays as questionable after full practices all week.

Our read: Green Bay throws on the worst pass defense in the league, Matthew Golden gets his yards, and the Packers stay within a field goal of a Detroit team that hasn't held anyone under 21 points.

Packers vs. Lions Predictions

  • Pick #1: Packers +3.5 (-111)
  • Pick #2: Matthew Golden Over 73.5 Receiving Yards (-110)

PICK #1: Packers +3.5 (-111)

Nobody has scored fewer than 21 points against Detroit. The Lions beat New Orleans 31-30, lost 41-31 at Buffalo, beat the Jets 31-24, lost 32-26 at Carolina and won 45-21 at Arizona, and three of those five were decided by a touchdown or less. Green Bay allows 20.8 points a game, tied for 10th, and held Tampa Bay, Chicago and Dallas to 14 or fewer during its three-game run.

These teams met twice last season and Green Bay won both, 27-13 at Lambeau in September and 31-24 in Detroit on Thanksgiving. Love and Jared Goff started both games.

The -111 price works out to a 52.6% chance. We like having the hook: a Detroit win by a field goal still cashes, and a defense this generous gives Green Bay's passing game room to keep pace.

Detroit can still win by more than a field goal. Only one team scores more, the Lions are rested, and Green Bay's defense is short-handed with Franklin out, Parsons not back and Edgerrin Cooper lost for the season in Week 5. The line has moved a point toward Detroit since it opened, and 62% of the spread money is on the Lions. This pick also assumes Love starts and plays through the back injury that limited him early in the week.

PICK #2: Matthew Golden Over 73.5 Receiving Yards (-110)

Detroit allows 321.4 passing yards a game, last in the league, and Golden has already cleared this number in four of six games, all against defenses that give up fewer passing yards. The game is indoors, too.

His four overs came at Minnesota (95), against Atlanta (100), against Chicago (123) and against Dallas last week (104), when he drew 13 of Green Bay's 40 targets. The misses were 58 at the Jets and 21 at Tampa Bay, and he saw only six and seven targets in those games. Volume is what decides this one, and a secondary giving up this much should keep Love looking his way.

At -110 the Over implies 52.4%, and this is the worst pass defense he has faced.

Golden was limited all week with a shoulder injury, but the Packers gave him no game status and listed him as available. Christian Watson and Tucker Kraft compete for the same looks, and Jacobs' return could tilt the play-calling toward the run if Green Bay gets ahead. Like Pick #1, it needs Love on the field.

Both picks win the same way: Green Bay moves the ball through the air against Detroit's secondary and stays within a field goal.
