Oilers vs. Devils Prediction, NHL Odds & Best Bets (11/3)

Fact checked at 6:50 AM ET, Nov 3, 2026
Odds as of 6:45 AM ET, Nov 3, 2026
The Oilers (11-2-2) finish a three-game road trip at Prudential Center against the Devils (9-5-0), with puck drop at 7:30 PM ET on ESPN+. New Jersey is a -155 home favorite and Edmonton is +130, even though most of the money on the moneyline and puck line is on the Oilers. We're not picking a winner. Our read is that Edmonton's top two forwards keep piling up points against one of the league's worst penalty kills, and that's enough to push this past 6.5 goals.
Edmonton is 7-0-0 on the road and has 64 goals in 15 games, tied with Colorado for the league lead. New Jersey has won five of its last six and is 6-2-0 at home, but its penalty kill ranks 25th at 70.0 percent. Both goalies are projected, not confirmed. Edmonton hasn't named a starter. Tristan Jarry posted back-to-back shutouts before Matt Tomkins took the second game of a back-to-back, and beat reports expect Jarry back tonight. Connor Hellebuyck is expected to make his Devils home debut after winning his first two starts and stopping 36 of 39 shots. How player props are graded in overtime depends on the book.
Oilers vs. Devils Predictions
- Pick #1: Over 6.5 (+110)
- Pick #2: Connor McDavid Over 1.5 Points (-105)
- Pick #3: Leon Draisaitl Over 1.5 Points (+140)
PICK #1: Over 6.5 (+110)
Edmonton games have averaged 7.2 total goals, and 8 of its 15 have gone over 6.5. The Oilers score 4.27 a game and allow 2.93. The Devils have scored 48 and allowed 40 in 14 games. At +110 the Over implies 47.6%.
Special teams are the edge. Edmonton's top power-play unit runs through McDavid, Draisaitl and Evan Bouchard, the league's top three scorers, and tonight it faces a kill that stops only 70 percent of chances. New Jersey's own power play sits 24th at 16.7 percent, and the Devils shuffled their units at their last practice, moving Connor Brown to the top group.
The risk is in goal and in Edmonton's recent form. The Oilers have allowed one goal in their last three games, and all three stayed under 6.5. If Jarry starts and plays like he did in those shutouts, and Hellebuyck matches his first two Devils starts, this falls short. The Over is also the popular side, with 84 percent of the bets.
PICK #2: Connor McDavid Over 1.5 Points (-105)
McDavid has a point in all 15 games and two or more in 11 of them, including 7 of his last 10. He leads the league with 39 points (9 goals, 30 assists) and has an assist in every game, a record start to a season. At -105 you need two points 51.2% of the time. He's been well above that all year.
The matchup helps. He anchors the top power-play unit and set up Bouchard's power-play goal in the win over the Rangers, and a Devils kill at 70 percent gives that unit a real target. His two one-point games in that 10-game stretch came against Detroit and the Islanders. A tight, low-event game beats this pick, and it would sink the Over too. Fifteen games is a short season, but a 73 percent rate leaves some room.
PICK #3: Leon Draisaitl Over 1.5 Points (+140)
This is the better price on the same idea. Draisaitl has 12 goals and 28 points, second in the league behind McDavid, and he's had two or more points in 9 of 15 games and 7 of his last 10. +140 implies 41.7%.
He's on the top power-play unit with McDavid, so the weak Devils kill works for him too, and he has two points in each of his last two games, against the Islanders and Rangers. The low end of his log is the worry. He was held off the scoresheet against Calgary and had one point against Detroit, two of his last four games, and 15 games is a small sample. Still, if Edmonton scores three or four, he's likely on the ice for two of them.
