We have seen some incredible touchdowns in the NFL over the past week. Jayden Daniels threw a Hail Mary to Noah Brown on the last play of the game to lead the Washington Commanders past the Chicago Bears last weekend. On Thursday Night Football, Garrett Wilson made an absolutely amazing one-handed TD grab as the New York Jets kicked off Week 9 with a much-needed win over the Houston Texans. We also saw an excruciating non-touchdown on Thursday, when Jets receiver Malachi Corley let go of the ball before he reached the goal line. Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts committed the same gaffe in Week 8, but there was not conclusive evidence to overturn a touchdown call – so he got away with it. Who will successfully get the ball into the end zone on Sunday? Let’s take a look at the touchdown scorer best bets to make for Week 9.

Predictions

Pick #1 - Chuba Hubbard, RB, Carolina Panthers to score a touchdown (+125)

Pick #2 - Josh Downs, WR, Indianapolis Colts to score a touchdown (+260)

Pick #3 - Drake London, WR, Atlanta Falcons first touchdown scorer (+900)

PICK #1: Hubbard a highlight in a season of Carolina lowlights

Chuba Hubbard has churned out 593 yards for the Panthers through eight games, averaging 55.0 yards per game. The Oklahoma State product has scored four touchdowns, all in the last six contests. Unfortunately for Hubbard, his team stinks. Carolina is almost always playing from behind, which is why it has to throw a bunch of passes and minimize Hubbard’s carries. He should get plenty in a very winnable game against the lowly New Orleans Saints, who have lost six games in a row and have not even been competitive in any of the past four. They rank 28th in the league against the run, are giving up the second-most yards per carry and have surrendered 10 rushing touchdowns. This is a great spot for Hubbard.

PICK #2: Downs is trending up for Colts

Year two in the NFL has mostly been stellar so far for Josh Downs, who has recorded at least 69 receiving yards in four of his six outings and is coming off a 109-yard performance against Houston last weekend. The former North Carolina standout has scored three touchdowns, all in his last five games. It’s also worth noting that Downs has been targeted at least nine times in four of his last five. Joe Flacco is in at quarterback in place of Anthony Richardson, which should be good news for Downs since Flacco is a more reliable passer. Expected Flacco to target Downs early and often, including in the red zone. They are facing a Minnesota Vikings defense that is No. 30 in the NFL against the pass and has allowed 14 TDs through the air.

PICK #3: London can capitalize on banged-up Dallas defense

The Falcons’ offense is flourishing under new quarterback Kirk Cousins; Drake London may be the primary beneficiary. He has caught five touchdown passes, all in the last seven games. The former USC star has been the first touchdown scorer twice already this season and there is no reason why he can’t work similar magic against the Dallas Cowboys. Dallas is dead last in the league in yards per pass attempt allowed (8.2) while giving up 10 passing touchdowns. The visitors will likely be without Micah Parsons, DaRon Bland and Trevon Diggs on defense, plus DeMarcus Lawrence is still on injured reserve. That unit is in complete shambles, so don’t be surprised if London and the Falcons take advantage of it right away.
