NFL Week 9 Touchdown Scorer Best Bets

Week 9 of the NFL season is here, and by now, the picture around the league is coming into focus. We know which defenses can’t stop the run, which secondaries struggle against tight ends and which offenses lean on their workhorses near the goal line. This is the sweet spot of the season for touchdown scorer betting, especially when usage trends and matchup data finally align to give us real value.

After digging through the numbers, we’ve locked in three touchdown scorer picks that bring a mix of upside, value and matchup advantage. Plus, after going 3-for-3 last week, we’re looking to keep the momentum rolling into Week 9.

Let’s jump into our favorite touchdown scorer predictions for NFL Week 9.

NFL Week 9 Touchdown Scorer Predictions

  • Pick #1: Kimani Vidal (LAC) Anytime Touchdown Scorer (-120)
  • Pick #2: Colston Loveland (CHI) Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+300)
  • Pick #3: Josh Jacobs (GBP) First Touchdown Scorer (+425)

Pick #1: Kimani Vidal (LAC) – Anytime Touchdown Scorer (-120)

Kimani Vidal has stepped right into the starting role for the Chargers after Omarion Hampton’s injury, and he’s wasted no time making an impact. In two of the three games since Hampton’s injury, Vidal has seen 18 and 23 carries and scored in both of those games. In the other game, the Chargers fell behind and had to abandon the run against the Colts, and Vidal only saw seven carries.

The Titans have been a soft spot for running backs all year, allowing a league-high 12 touchdowns to the position. They’ve struggled to contain physical backs who can push through the second level, and Vidal fits that mold perfectly. With his growing role and a defense that bleeds touchdowns to RBs, Vidal at -120 offers strong value as a near every-down back in a great matchup.

Pick #2: Colston Loveland (CHI) Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+300)

Colston Loveland’s role in Chicago is starting to expand. The rookie tight end has seen steady work the last few weeks, and this week he draws a dream matchup against a Bengals defense that has allowed the most receiving touchdowns to tight ends this season (10).

Chicago has leaned more on its tight ends this season, with head coach Ben Johnson wanting to run a lot of 12 personnel. While also using play-action and bootleg looks to free up Loveland in space. He’s got the size, athleticism and hands to capitalize on those mismatches. Cole Kmet is also in danger of missing his second game with a back injury, and Loveland saw a season high of five targets in his absence last week. At +300 odds, this line feels a bit long given how vulnerable Cincinnati has been in the middle of the field. This is a value play with legitimate upside.

Pick #3: Josh Jacobs (GB) First Touchdown Scorer (+425)

Josh Jacobs remains the focal point of the Packers’ offense, and his workload continues to stay steady, especially near the goal line. Jacobs comes into this one coming off scoring twice in three of his last four games. Green Bay is committed to establishing the run early, and that sets up perfectly against a Carolina defense that just allowed 216 rushing yards and the first touchdown of the game to James Cook last week, which we cashed. So why not go back to the well once again?

Jacobs’ physical style is exactly the kind of challenge Carolina has struggled with; they’ve been gashed between the tackles and have allowed early scoring drives in multiple games. If Green Bay gets inside the 10-yard line first, it’s almost a guarantee Jacobs gets the call, considering he has the third-most red zone touches with 35 this season. At +425, the value for him to score the game’s first touchdown is too good to pass up.
