NFL Week 7 Touchdown Scorer Best Bets

Just more than a third of the way into the 2024-25 NFL season, the Baltimore Ravens’ Derrick Henry has established himself as the most logical bet for anytime and/or first touchdown scorer each week. Henry leads the league with 704 yards and eight rushing touchdowns. He has found the end zone at least once every game this season, and he has scored the game’s first touchdown the last three weeks for Baltimore. DraftKings Sportsbook currently has him listed at (-215) to score a touchdown at any point for Baltimore on Monday night in Tampa Bay. He is also listed at (+400) to score the game’s first touchdown. Those are the safest bets of any in the league right now in these categories.
Below, our experts offer their best bets outside of Henry on the first touchdown and anytime scorers for Week 7, as well as one longshot anytime touchdown scorer to consider:
Predictions
Pick #1: Bijan Robinson, RB, Atlanta Falcons (-190)
Pick #2: Demario Douglas, WR, New England Patriots (+310)
Pick #3: First TD Scorer David Montgomery, RB, Detroit Lions (+475)
Pick #1: Bijan Robinson, RB, Atlanta Falcons to score a Touchdown (-190)
Robinson was everything the Atlanta Falcons hoped for as a rookie out of Texas last season. The sturdy running back had more than 1,400 yards from scrimmage and eight touchdowns as a dependable option both behind the line, where he averaged 4.6 yards a carry, and as a receiver – where he had 58 catches.
It’s more of the same this season for Robinson, who now has Kirk Cousins feeding him the ball. He leads Atlanta, currently in first place in the NFC South division, with 380 yards rushing. He went for 95 yards and two touchdowns in the Falcons’ 38-20 victory over the Carolina Panthers last week, the team’s third win in a row. Robinson has a solid chance to build off those numbers against the Seattle Seahawks Sunday afternoon. Seattle’s defense surrendered 228 yards and a touchdown on the ground in a loss to the San Francisco 49ers last week.
Pick #2: Demario Douglas, WR, New England Patriots to score a Touchdown (+310)
It’s going to be a long season in New England, as the Patriots’ most interesting storylines may just be the development of rookie quarterback Drake Maye and the team’s race for the first overall draft pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Maye made his first start in last week’s 41-21 loss to the Houston Texans, and while a nearly-three touchdown defeat is nothing to smile about, he went 20-for-33 for 243 yards and three touchdowns. At the very least, the Patriots could be emerging from their extremely vanilla offense where a one-yard dump-off consistently outnumbered downfield looks.
Maye’s favorite target quickly emerged last week in the form of Douglas, the second-year wideout from Liberty who led the team as a rookie with a paltry 561 yards receiving. Douglas never found the end zone in his first season, and had yet to this season prior to the game against the Texans last week. He caught nine passes for 92 yards, including a 35-yard touchdown from Maye early in the fourth quarter.
As Maye continues learning on the job, Douglas will be a comfortable safety valve to utilize during his read progressions, making him a solid longshot play for anytime touchdown Sunday in London against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Pick #3: David Montgomery, RB, Detroit Lions to score the First Touchdown (+475)
The David Montgomery-Jahmyr Gibbs show surges forward for the Detroit Lions in season two of their pairing. Now nicknamed “Sonic and Knuckles,” the duo were outstanding last eason. Montgomery came to Detroit after four seasons with the Chicago Bears and promptly ran for 1,015 yards and 13 touchdowns. Gibbs, a rookie out of Alabama, ran for 945 yards and 10 touchdowns as the Lions advanced to the NFC championship game for the first time in 32 seasons.
The duo have picked right up where they left off. Gibbs has 348 yards and three touchdowns on the ground while Montgomery has rushed for 351 yards and six touchdowns. You could basically flip a coin with these two. While Gibbs (+900 first touchdown scorer, +120 anytime touchdown scorer) offers attractive odds right now, it’s Montgomery we’re going with here thanks to recency bias.
Montgomery rushed 12 times for 80 yards and two touchdowns in Detroit’s 47-9 beatdown of the Dallas Cowboys last week. In that contest, Montgomery scored the first touchdown for the third straight game, all Lions victories. He did it in Detroit’s 20-13 win over the Arizona Cardinals the previous week, and in their 42-29 victory over the Seattle Seahawks the week prior.
