NFL Week 14 Sunday picks

Week 14 of the 2024 NFL campaign kicked off with the Detroit Lions edging the Green Bay Packers on Thursday Night Football to move to 12-1. Now it’s time to focus on Sunday, which is headlined in part by a showdown between the Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Rams. The most intriguing contest is saved for Sunday Night Football, with the Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Los Angeles Chargers in an all-AFC West showdown. Let’s get into our NFL Week 14 picks and best bets for Sunday.
Predictions
PICK #1: Jacksonville Jaguars +3.5 over Tennessee Titans (-118)
PICK #2: Buffalo Bills -3.5 over Los Angeles Rams (-112)
PICK #3: Kansas City Chiefs -4 over Los Angeles Chargers (-110)
PICK #1: Jaguars +3.5 over Titans (-118)
This pick is more of a fade of Tennessee than it is throwing support behind Jacksonville. There is no denying that the Jaguars are terrible, but the good news is that they are facing a Titans team that is almost as bad. Head coach Brian Callahan’s club is 3-9 and since its Week 5 bye is 2-6 with five double-digit losses. Tennessee just fell to the Washington Commanders 42-9 last Sunday after trailing 28-0 early in the second quarter. There is no reason to think anything is about to change, as the season-long sample size of ineptitude is large. The Titans rank 28th in scoring, 28th in total offense and 30th in passing yards per game. There is not a whole lot of good to say about the Jags, who are 2-10 and will be without Trevor Lawrence. However, Mac Jones really isn’t a downgrade given how poorly Lawrence has played in 2024 and the Jags showed plenty of life last week in a narrow three-point loss tot he Texans. At the very least, Jacksonville should keep this one close.
PICK #2: Bills -3.5 over Rams (-112)
The Bills may have clinched the AFC East title in absurdly quick fashion, but don’t think for a second that they will rest on their laurels. Josh Allen and company are one game behind Kansas City for the best record in the AFC, so they will no doubt be eager to stay in the hunt for home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Buffalo has won seven in a row, with five of those victories coming by at least seven points. It has scored at least 30 points in six straight games after hammering the San Francisco 49ers 35-10 this past weekend. A Los Angeles defense that is 28th in the NFL against the run probably won’t have much success containing an offense that is second in scoring at 29.6 points per contest. If playing at home is the only thing that works in the Rams’ favor, it may not be much of a factor. They have already lost three times at SoFi Stadium this season, including twice in a row to the Miami Dolphins and Philadelphia Eagles – the latter in disappointing 37-20 fashion a couple of weeks ago.
PICK #3: Chiefs -4 over Chargers (-110)
As if Kansas City needs any additional help, it is getting nine full days of rest after playing on Friday of Week 13. Los Angeles, on the other hand, will be playing its third game in the span of 14 days. The Chargers’ most recent outing resulted in a win, but they may want the tape burned. Head coach Jim Harbaugh’s team gained only 187 yards of total offense but managed to scrape past the slumping Atlanta Falcons largely because Kirk Cousins threw four interceptions. It is true that the Chiefs have not exactly been winning in dominant fashion, either, but the bottom line is you can’t argue with 11-1. The two-time defending Super Bowl champions just keep stacking up victories. They have to win by at least five points to cover on Sunday night, but they should be able to do it – just as they did in Week 5 with a 17-10 road defeat of the division-rival Chargers.
