Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold had his questionable tag removed on Wednesday, so he is good to go after dealing with a minor ankle issue as his team tries to continue momentum from a two-game winning streak. The Seahawks are surging toward the playoffs with a 9-3 record, while the Falcons are going in the other direction.

Atlanta (4-8) has lost six of its last seven games following a 3-2 start to the season. QB Michael Penix Jr. is out for the year with a partially torn ACL, which means 36-year-old Kirk Cousins is back under center. Cousins was decent in his last starts, but those came against the Saints and Jets – the latter in a losing effort against a previously 2-9 squad.

Seattle’s defense is an entirely different beast, ranking No. 1 in the NFL in yards per pass attempt allowed (6.1) and No. 4 in sacks (40). On the other side of the ball, Darnold’s connection with star receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba has the Seahawks scoring the fourth-most points in the league (29.2 per game).

Regardless of who is playing quarterback, the Vikings’ offense is an unmitigated disaster. Undrafted rookie Max Brosmer started last weekend and threw for 126 yards and no touchdowns while getting picked off an absurd four times en route to a 26-0 loss at Seattle. J.J. McCarthy is back from concussion protocol, but he has been terrible in 2025. Also in his first year as a professional after missing all of last season due to a torn ACL, McCarthy is completing an anemic 54.1 percent of his passes and has more interceptions (10) than touchdown strikes (six).

The Commanders have been forced to turn from Jayden Daniels to Marcus Mariota, but Mariota is an established veteran and a more-than-capable backup. The Vikings’ woes are likely to continue – even against an unspectacular opponent.

Despite somehow managing to win in Week 13, the Jets are close to an automatic fade these days. They are 3-9 and not far from being 0-12. Head coach Aaron Glenn’s squad got past Atlanta 27-24 despite getting dominated in all phases aside from special teams. It beat Cincinnati – without Joe Burrow – by one point. In the Jets’ 27-20 victory over Cleveland, they gained 169 total yards of offense. Prior to last week’s defeat of the Falcons, New York had scored 14 points or fewer in four of its past six contests. QB Tyrod Taylor is arguably an improvement over Justin Fields, but even Taylor does not inspire any confidence.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins have suddenly won four of their last five games. Running back Devon Achane (1,034 rushing yards, 370 receiving yards, 10 total touchdowns) is coming off three consecutive 100-yard performances on the ground. Now he gets to face a Jets defense that ranks No. 26 in the NFL against the run.
