Mammoth vs. Kraken Prediction, NHL Odds & Best Bets (10/22)

Fact checked at 9:05 AM ET, Oct 22, 2026
Odds as of Oct 22, 9:01 AM ET
Utah (7-3-0) visits Seattle (6-3-1) at 10:00 PM ET Thursday at Climate Pledge Arena, and the Mammoth have spent most of this season with the puck. They put 30.1 shots on goal a game and allow 22.5, third-fewest in the league. Seattle gives up 31.0, third-most. Then there's special teams: Utah's power play leads the league at 36.1% (13 of 36), and Seattle's penalty kill is at 72.4% after finishing last season at 72.2%.
Five players carry that offense. Clayton Keller, Nick Schmaltz, Logan Cooley, Dylan Guenther and Mikhail Sergachev make up the top power-play unit and have 31 power-play points between them. The second unit's five have four. We expect Utah's top group to do the damage while the defensemen paid to defend stay quiet, and both picks sit on two of those defensemen, Andrew Peeke and MacKenzie Weegar. The shared risk is a night when the whole Utah lineup piles up shots and points.
Utah is -170 on the moneyline, Seattle +142, with the total at 6.5. Karel Vejmelka (.879 save percentage) is expected in Utah's net. Seattle's starter isn't confirmed: one lineup service projects Joey Daccord (.882), while Philipp Grubauer (.904) started Tuesday and appears in the club's own projected lineup. Utah defenseman John Marino is day to day with an upper-body injury and missed Monday's 5-4 win over Pittsburgh. Utah has had two days off. Seattle has had one since beating Detroit 4-3 in a shootout Tuesday, a game in which it let a 3-0 lead get away in the third period.
Mammoth vs. Kraken Predictions
- Pick #1: Andrew Peeke Under 1.5 Shots on Goal (-125)
- Pick #2: MacKenzie Weegar Under 0.5 Points (-180)
PICK #1: Andrew Peeke Under 1.5 Shots on Goal (-125)
Peeke had 82 shots in 77 games for Boston last season and finished with one or none in 55 of them. That's 71.4%, against a price that implies 55.6%. Over his career he's at almost exactly one shot a game (398 in 396), and the one-year deal he signed with Utah in July hasn't changed anything: he's under 1.5 in 8 of 10 games, including each of his last seven.
He's a defensive defenseman and Utah uses him like one. He plays the second pair with Nate Schmidt, kills penalties on the second unit and isn't on either power-play unit in the Oct. 21 practice lines. His ice time has run from 12:56 to 18:10. Both games where he cleared the number came in the first week: three shots at the Rangers on Oct. 4 and two at Columbus on Oct. 3.
Minutes are the worry. Marino played 19 to 21 minutes a night before he got hurt, and if he sits again, Peeke could get more ice. He did on Monday, 18:10 without Marino, his most of the season. He finished with one shot.
PICK #2: MacKenzie Weegar Under 0.5 Points (-180)
Weegar logs top-pair minutes, but Utah's offense goes around him. He has two goals, no assists and eight scoreless games out of 10. Since Utah acquired him from Calgary on March 4, he's been held without a point in 21 of 29 games, and across all of last season he went scoreless in 56 of 79 (70.9%) on the way to 28 points. The break-even at -180 is 64.3%.
Sergachev is the one running the top power play from the point. Weegar is on the second unit, which has produced little, and he doesn't have a power-play point this season. He's on the first penalty-kill unit too.
The risk is that Weegar can produce when the puck goes through him: 52 points in 2023-24 and 47 in 2024-25 as Calgary's top power-play defenseman. He's playing 17:31 to 23:59 a night, and Seattle's goaltending and penalty kill have both leaked this season. If Utah scores five, he probably touches one of them.
