Odds as of 7:54 AM ET, Oct 25, 2026
The Lakers are 2-0 and haven't left home yet. They beat Golden State 127-105 and the Clippers 125-117, and Sunday's 5:00 PM ET tip at Delta Center in Salt Lake City (Spectrum Sports Net, KJZZ-TV) is their first road game. Utah is 1-1. It lost 123-103 at Memphis on opening night, then beat New Orleans 120-119 on Friday when rookie Darryn Peterson hit the go-ahead free throws with under a minute left.
Our read: the Lakers keep scoring on the road, Utah scores enough to keep pace for a while, and Los Angeles pulls away late in a high-scoring game. That gives us the Lakers -6.5 and the Over 237.5. The spread opened at 6.5 and hasn't moved. The total opened at 236.5 and is up a point, and the Lakers are -245 on the moneyline.
Los Angeles should start the same five it started in both games: Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves, Ziaire Williams, Matisse Thybulle and Walker Kessler. Utah's projected five is the group from Friday, Keyonte George, Peterson, Ace Bailey, Lauri Markkanen and Jaren Jackson Jr. (Jaxson Hayes started the opener in Bailey's spot). The official injury report has Cameron Carr and Adou Thiero out for the Lakers and Jusuf Nurkic out for Utah, and none of the three has played this season. Kessler is available with a splint on his left finger. Jake LaRavia (ankle) missed Friday's game and is off the report. Both teams last played Friday, and the Jazz host Memphis on Monday, so this is the front end of a back-to-back for them.
Lakers vs. Jazz Predictions
- Pick #1: Lakers -6.5 (-110)
- Pick #2: Over 237.5 (-110)
PICK #1: Lakers -6.5 (-110)
Utah gave up 58 paint points at Memphis and 64 to New Orleans, and it has allowed 121 a game through two. Now it gets a Lakers team that shot 57% and 58% at home with 66 and 58 paint points, and Nurkic is still out, which leaves Jackson and Hayes to deal with Kessler and the Lakers' drives.
Los Angeles is averaging 126 points through two home games, tied with Portland for the league lead. Reaves had 23 against Golden State and 28 with nine assists against the Clippers. Doncic scored 28 and 23. Kessler has been a scoring threat at center with 26 in the opener and 22 on Friday. The Lakers won by 22 and 8, so they've covered this number twice, and -110 implies a 52.4% chance they do it again.
That's two home games, which is not much to go on. DRatings projects a 122-117 Lakers win, a 5.2-point margin, short of the number. Utah also got double figures from Jackson, Markkanen, George and Peterson in the win over the Pelicans. Sixty-eight percent of spread bets are on the Lakers.
PICK #2: Over 237.5 (-110)
The Lakers' 126 points a game would cover more than half of this total on its own. Utah has given up at least 119 in both games, and its 121 allowed per game ranks 22nd of 30 teams, over just two games.
Utah can score its share, too. The Jazz put up 120 on New Orleans, with Jackson going for 24 points and 10 rebounds and seven players in double figures. Hayes added 17 off the bench on 7-of-8 shooting. The total has climbed from 236.5 to 237.5, and the DRatings projection adds up to 238.8. At -110, the Over implies 52.4%.
Two of the four games these teams have played cleared 237.5. The Lakers and Clippers combined for 242 and the Jazz and Pelicans for 239. The Lakers' win over Golden State came to 232, and Utah's loss at Memphis to 226. The Jazz scored only 103 in that one, and the Lakers have allowed 111 a game, 10th-fewest in the league. The public is all over this side, with 88% of bets and 91% of the money on the Over.
