Jets vs. Lightning Prediction, NHL Odds & Best Bets (10/29)

Fact checked at 7:31 AM ET, Oct 29, 2026
Odds as of 6:42 AM ET, Oct 29, 2026
The Winnipeg Jets (4-5-3) carry a six-game winless run into Benchmark International Arena, where the Tampa Bay Lightning (7-3-1) haven't lost this season in five tries. Puck drop is 7:00 PM ET. Winnipeg has scored 10 goals in those six games and no more than two in any of the last five. Tampa Bay has had four full days off. The Jets are on the front half of a back-to-back that opens a four-game road trip.
Our read is a low-scoring Tampa Bay win by two. The Lightning have scored at least three in every home game, Winnipeg's offense has stalled, and a 3-1 or 4-1 final cashes both picks: the Lightning on the puck line and the Under.
Both goalies are projected, not confirmed: Stuart Skinner for Winnipeg and Andrei Vasilevskiy for Tampa Bay. Brandon Hagel is a game-time decision for the Lightning, Zemgus Girgensons is out and Victor Hedman is day-to-day.
Jets vs. Lightning Predictions
- Pick #1: Lightning -1.5 (+105)
- Pick #2: Under 6 (-110)
PICK #1: Lightning -1.5 (+105)
This market has moved hard toward Tampa Bay. The moneyline has gone from -192 when it opened to -245, and the puck line from +130 to +105. A goalie change isn't the reason. Skinner, who joined Winnipeg as a free agent, has been the Jets' starter since opening night (3-2-3, .911 save percentage), and the Connor Hellebuyck trade to New Jersey came before this line opened. The only injury news since then has hurt Tampa Bay (Hagel and Girgensons). What did happen is Winnipeg's 5-1 home loss to Florida, its sixth straight game without a win. And the puck line kept moving toward the Lightning with only 38% of the puck-line money on them.
The matchup backs that up. Winnipeg scores 2.33 goals a game, one of the five lowest rates in the league, and has seven goals in its last five. Tampa Bay allows just 24.5 shots a game, one of the lowest marks in the NHL, so the Jets shouldn't get many looks. At home the Lightning have beaten Washington 3-1, Philadelphia 4-1 and Vancouver 4-2, so three of their five home wins came by two or more.
At +105 the implied chance is 48.8%. The worry is that Winnipeg keeps games close. The Jets have lost by two or more only twice in 12 games, both 5-1 results against Anaheim and Florida. Vasilevskiy's save percentage is below .890. If Hagel sits, Tampa Bay is missing one of its two leading goal scorers (he and Jake Guentzel have seven each). The puck line includes overtime, and a one-goal Lightning win loses it.
PICK #2: Under 6 (-110)
The total points the same way as the side. It opened at 6.5 with the Under at -125 and has dropped to 6, even though 99% of the money on the total is on the Over. A line moving against that much money usually means the bigger bets are on the Under.
Winnipeg's games have been low-scoring all season. Seven of its 12 have ended with five goals or fewer, two landed on exactly six and only three went over. The last five finished with 6, 3, 5, 3 and 5 total goals, newest first. Tampa Bay's home games have been tighter than its road games, with 4, 5, 5, 7 and 6 goals in five games in Tampa. A 3-1 or 4-1 Lightning win, which is the game we expect, stays under.
The Under at -110 implies 52.4%. The risk sits in the Tampa Bay crease, since Vasilevskiy hasn't been sharp and the Lightning's last three road games went 6-2 in Vegas, 6-3 in Colorado and 5-4 in Utah. A late empty-netter can also turn a 4-2 into a 5-2 and sink this, and a 5-1 lands on exactly six, which is a push. The total includes overtime. If either team changes goalies, take another look before betting it.
