Jets vs. Chiefs Prediction, NFL Week 9 Odds & Best Bets (11/8)

Fact checked at 8:12 AM ET, Nov 8, 2026
Odds as of 7:12 AM ET, Nov 8, 2026
The Jets (2-6) visit the Chiefs (5-2) at 1:00 PM ET at Arrowhead Stadium without Garrett Wilson, who leads them with 43 catches for 527 yards and was ruled out with a concussion. Kansas City has dropped two straight, at Seattle and at Denver, but it is 3-0 at home and allows 18.7 points a game. The Jets have lost three in a row and gave up 26, 28 and 38 points in those games. Kansas City is a 9.5-point favorite and the total is 48.
We expect this to look like the Chiefs' other comfortable wins. Kenneth Walker III gets the carries, Patrick Mahomes relies on Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice, and a Jets offense without its best receiver falls behind and stays there. Kelce and Rice are both off the final injury report, and Mahomes and Geno Smith are both in line to start.
Jets vs. Chiefs Predictions
- Pick #1: Kenneth Walker III Under 18.5 Receiving Yards (-111)
- Pick #2: Travis Kelce Over 46.5 Receiving Yards (-109)
- Pick #3: Chiefs -9.5 (-110)
PICK #1: Kenneth Walker III Under 18.5 Receiving Yards (-111)
Kansas City uses Walker to run. He has 173, 177 and 128 rushing yards in three of his seven games and has played between 68% and 82% of the snaps in every one, but the receiving yards haven't come with that workload. He's finished under 18.5 in five of seven games, and in the three double-digit wins he had 18, 3 and 11.
He did the same thing last season in Seattle, staying under this number in 11 of 17 regular-season games. Put the two seasons together and it's 16 of 24, about 67%, while -111 implies 52.6%.
He got past it twice: 21 yards at Seattle and 61 in the overtime shootout with Indianapolis, when Kansas City had to throw. His catches tend to be short ones near the line of scrimmage, like four for 15 yards at Denver last week. What beats this is one short pass that breaks for 20, or a Jets lead that pushes the Chiefs into more checkdowns.
PICK #2: Travis Kelce Over 46.5 Receiving Yards (-109)
Kelce has delivered in the Chiefs' big wins, with 71, 59 and 53 receiving yards against Denver, Miami and the Chargers. He's over 46.5 in five of seven games this season. The one bad miss was 15 yards at Las Vegas, a game in which Rice played only a handful of snaps. In the four games where Rice played most of the snaps, Kelce went for 71, 101, 59 and 67.
He cleared this line in 10 of 17 games last season too. Over both seasons that's 15 of 24, close to 63%, and -109 implies 52.2%. With Wilson out, the Jets are more likely to be chasing, and that keeps Mahomes throwing into the fourth quarter.
His ankle is the thing to watch. Kelce was limited early in the week, practiced fully the last two days and carries no game status. The Jets also hold opponents to 208.4 passing yards per game, so the secondary he's facing isn't a weak one.
PICK #3: Chiefs -9.5 (-110)
Wilson has played in every Jets game this season, and even with him they average 21.3 points. Adonai Mitchell now becomes the top receiver. He had 142 yards against Las Vegas, but rookie Omar Cooper Jr. didn't draw a target in that game. Offensive coordinator Frank Reich said the plan will change: "If he's not up, then we'll do AD things or Coop things."
Kansas City allows 18.7 points and 96.3 rushing yards per game, and its home wins came by 21 over Denver, 3 in overtime over Indianapolis and 16 over the Chargers. Breece Hall is back from a quad injury to pair with Braelon Allen, who ran for 504 yards in the five games Hall missed. Running the ball is the Jets' best way to keep this close, and they'll be doing it against a front that hasn't given up much on the ground.
The Jets' record is the argument for the other side. They've lost by more than 9.5 only once this season, 23-12 at Chicago, though Wilson played in all of those close losses. Kansas City has covered this number in three of seven games and scored three points at Seattle two weeks ago. Bettors are nearly split on the spread, with 52% of the bets on Kansas City, but only 43% of the money. At -110, that's a 52.4% break-even. All three picks assume Mahomes starts.
