Hurricanes vs. Golden Knights 2026 NHL Stanley Cup Final Game 6 Picks

The Carolina Hurricanes and Vegas Golden Knights are set for Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final on Sunday night. Puck drop is slated for 8:10 PM ET at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

After a hard-fought 4-2 win in Game 5 on Thursday, the Hurricanes are now just one win away from winning the Stanley Cup. On the other side, the Golden Knights are looking to stay alive and force a decisive Game 7.

With the way this series has gone, hockey fans are in for a treat on Sunday night in Game 6.

Pick #1: Golden Knights ML over Hurricanes (-105)

This series has 7 games written all over it. 

With their backs against the wall, look for the Golden Knights to come out with an aggressive game plan on both ends of the ice. Knowing that it’s now or never, Vegas may opt to be more aggressive in the offensive zone and take some chances in the neutral zone and the defensive zone. Vegas has plenty of Stanley Cup pedigree on its roster, and in games like this, that experience tends to make itself known.

Vegas is coming off back-to-back losses for just the second time under John Tortorella, and they have yet to lose three in a row under his leadership. The Golden Knights have been excellent at avoiding cold streaks with Tortorella behind the bench, and I expect Tortorella and his staff to make the necessary adjustments to get the job done in Game 6. Playing in front of their home crowd, the Golden Knights are the team to back on the money line.

Pick #2: Over 5.5 (-130)

All 5 games in this series thus far have featured at least six total goals, and there isn’t much to suggest that will change in Game 6. All five games have featured high-flying, back-and-forth goal-scoring action, as both teams have been able to light the lamp on a consistent basis. Neither team has been too reliant on the power play, and 31 of the 39 goals scored in the series have come at even strength. 

Vegas’ Carter Hart is the first player in NHL history to allow 4+ goals in 5 straight games to start a Stanley Cup Final. That is not exactly the history you want to be making. Hart has been shaky all throughout this series, and with the Hurricanes one game away from winning it all, they are sure to be aggressive offensively. Look for the Canes to find success against Hart once again.

With a total of 5.5, the over is the play in a high-stakes Game 6.

Pick #3: Brett Howden (VGS) anytime goalscorer (+250)

No player has seen more goal-scoring success this postseason than Vegas’ Brett Howden. After scoring just 12 goals in the regular season, Howden has put forth a historic postseason campaign that has seen him pot 14 goals so far. He has 4 games so far in the Stanley Cup Final, and if the Golden Knights want to force Game 7, they will need Howden to have a solid night.

Howden’s ice time or shooting volume doesn’t jump off the page, but he’s done a tremendous job of capitalizing on his opportunities. His shooting percentage of 35% seems almost unbelievable, and it is unsustainable throughout the course of an 82-game regular season. But that doesn’t matter in the postseason. With the way he is rolling, don’t be surprised if Howden continues his historic postseason run with a goal in Game 6 on Sunday night.
