Odds as of 6:13 AM ET, Nov 5, 2026

The Philadelphia Flyers (4-9-4) start a five-game road trip at Madison Square Garden against the New York Rangers (8-7-1), with puck drop at 7:00 PM ET. Philadelphia scores 2.18 goals a game, the fewest in the NHL, and lost 4-2 to Minnesota last time out. New York beat St. Louis 3-1 to end a four-game losing streak and wraps up a four-game homestand tonight. The Rangers are 7-2-0 at home. Both teams played two nights ago.

New York is a -153 favorite, the total is 5.5, and 93% of the money is on the Over. Neither club has named a starting goalie. Projections are split between Joseph Woll and Dan Vladar for Philadelphia and between Dylan Garand and James Reimer for New York, with Igor Shesterkin out for the season and Joonas Korpisalo on a conditioning stint. We're betting on New York's top players to produce against a team that allows more than three goals a game, and on Philadelphia's attack staying quiet against the league's best penalty kill.

Flyers vs. Rangers Predictions

  • Pick #1: Adam Fox Over 0.5 Assists (-140)
  • Pick #2: Alexis Lafreniere Over 0.5 Points (-135)
  • Pick #3: Denver Barkey Under 1.5 Shots on Goal (-160)

PICK #1: Adam Fox Over 0.5 Assists (-140)

Fox has 17 assists in 16 games, tied for second among NHL defensemen, and he's picked up at least one in 11 of those games. He has one in 7 of his last 10, a four-assist night in Toronto among them.

He plays on the top pair with Vladislav Gavrikov and runs New York's power play. The Flyers allow more than three goals a game, and Woll, the expected starter in the latest beat projection, is 1-5-2 with an .899 save percentage. The -140 price implies 58.3%, and we think Fox clears that against this team.

He did go without an assist in two of his last three games, and the Rangers managed one goal in their loss to Edmonton. A quiet night from New York's offense is how this loses.

PICK #2: Alexis Lafreniere Over 0.5 Points (-135)

Lafreniere skates on the top line with Mika Zibanejad and Pavel Dorofeyev, and the three stay together on the power play. That's the group we expect to do the damage tonight. He leads the Rangers with nine goals, has 16 points, and can cash this with a goal or an assist.

He has a point in 10 of 16 games this season and in 7 of his last 10. At -135, the implied chance is 57.4%.

He comes in cold, though, held off the scoresheet against Edmonton and St. Louis. If New York scores twice or fewer, even a top-line forward can get shut out.

PICK #3: Denver Barkey Under 1.5 Shots on Goal (-160)

Barkey has 11 shots in 14 games and has finished with one or none in 11 of them. The longer record says the same thing: 43 shots in 43 games last season, with one or fewer in 33. Both clear the 61.5% that -160 implies by a wide margin.

He centers Philadelphia's second line between Tyson Foerster and Owen Tippett and plays the bumper spot on the top power-play unit. His coach has praised what he does there on puck retrievals and keeping plays alive, not his shooting. The Flyers average 23.4 shots a game, among the fewest in the league, and they face the NHL's top penalty kill at 90.4%.

The worry is Barkey himself. After scoring on the power play against Minnesota, he said he's trying to shoot more from that spot. He has reached two shots in three of his last ten games, and a night with several Flyers power plays gives him more looks.
