Eagles vs Texans Betting Guide: Best Bet, Best Prop & a +285 SGP

A big night for Texas and Philadelphia sports fans, with Thursday Night Football and the World Series taking place on the same night. This one might be a bit more lopsided than the Baseball though with the Eagles giving away 14 points on the road. Huge.

Let’s dive in and see if we can find some value.

Best Bet

The 7-0 Eagles should have no problem beating the struggling 1-5 Texans, we don’t see much value in playing the Moneyline here though. Neither do we like playing such a large spread. We’ve been burnt too many times by a backdoor cover due to some unforeseen sub/injury/you name it in the last quarter of the game. We do like the look of the Game Total though.

The Texans know they aren’t going to be able to throw the ball too much given the strength of the Eagles defence in the air; they rank 2nd in interceptions and 1st in turnovers this season. Generally speaking, the Texans are a low scoring team anyway, ranking 29th in points per game. We can’t see them scoring more than 13 points here given these factors. So that leaves a huge total for the Eagles to cover. We don’t think it will happen.

The Smart Money also seems to be coming for the Under at the time of writing.

As we raised, we think the Texans are going to be left with no option but to run the ball given the strength of the Eagles defense in the air. So we’re looking to the Rushing Yards market for the Texans. The player we like the look of is Dameon Pierce. He’s recorded 80+ rushing yards in four of the last five games for the Texans. Our model projects he’s on track for 77 yards here, so he should be able to cover the 64.5.
