Ducks vs. Rangers Prediction, NHL Odds & Best Bets (10/19)

Fact checked at 6:35 AM ET, Oct 19, 2026
Odds as of Oct 19, 5:24 AM ET
The Rangers come home at 6-3-1 after two road losses, 7-1 at New Jersey on Thursday and 1-0 in overtime at Columbus on Saturday. Madison Square Garden has been another world. New York is 5-0-0 there, has outscored visitors 24-8 and hasn't won a home game by fewer than two goals. Defense is the constant. The Rangers allow 2.2 goals per game, third-fewest in the league, give up 25.2 shots a game and have killed 93.5% of their penalties, second-best in the NHL. They're now without Igor Shesterkin, who was lost for the season to a lower-body injury on Oct. 9. Dylan Garand has taken the net with a 1.82 goals-against average, a .927 save percentage and a shutout in six games, and he is the expected starter.
Anaheim arrives at 4-3-0. The Ducks are unbeaten in three road games but lost 4-2 in each of their last two at home, to Calgary and Boston. They average 24.1 shots a game, sixth-fewest in the league, and Lukas Dostal (3.17 goals-against average, .881 save percentage) is expected in goal. Mikael Granlund missed Friday's game and is a game-time decision.
The number has moved New York's way. The Rangers opened -120 on Saturday and sit at -140, and the puck line has gone from +210 to +178. Puck drop is Monday at 7:00 PM ET at Madison Square Garden, on ESPN+ and MSG.
We see a Rangers home win built on keeping Anaheim quiet, with Miller still passing more than shooting. Both picks cash in that game.
Ducks vs. Rangers Predictions
- Pick #1: Rangers Moneyline (-140)
- Pick #2: J.T. Miller Under 1.5 Shots on Goal (+140)
PICK #1: Rangers Moneyline (-140)
Start with the home split. Five games at the Garden, five wins, 24 goals for and eight against. Anaheim doesn't generate much, at 24.1 shots a game, and it's running into a team that allows 25.2 and kills penalties at 93.5%. That matters against a Ducks power play converting 26.9% of its chances. The goaltending gap is plain too: Garand at .927, Dostal at .881.
The -140 price works out to a 58.3% chance, and we like New York's odds better than that at home. The line has climbed from -120 since Saturday without any new injury news in between. Shesterkin went down more than a week before it opened.
This isn't risk-free. New York scored one goal across the two road losses and ranks 23rd in scoring at 2.8 per game. The team defense has slipped a bit since Garand took over, with 11 goals allowed in four games, seven of them in New Jersey. Anaheim is 3-0-0 on the road with 13 goals in those games, and if Granlund plays, the Ducks get back a center who had a point in each of his six games. It's a standard moneyline, so overtime and a shootout count.
PICK #2: J.T. Miller Under 1.5 Shots on Goal (+140)
Miller has 12 shots in 10 games. He's had one or none in seven of them, including each of his last five: one in 21 minutes at Columbus on Saturday, none at New Jersey, then one, one and none before that.
The home numbers are what sell it, since we expect a Rangers win at the Garden. Miller had one shot in four of New York's five home wins, and his only home game over the line was three shots against the Islanders on Oct. 6. He has been passing, not shooting. His last two point nights were two assists on one shot in the 6-2 win over Vancouver and an assist on one shot in the 4-1 win over Tampa Bay. Ice time isn't the explanation, either. He has played between 15 and 21 minutes every night, and in Saturday's game he centered the second line between Tye Kartye and Pavel Dorofeyev and worked the first power-play unit.
At +140 the Under needs to land only 41.7% of the time, which is a generous price for how he's playing. What could beat it is a chase game, a run of power plays or a return to his old habits: he averaged 2.1 shots a game last season. He's reached three shots once this season, and one shot above his usual output is enough to lose this.
