Devils vs. Maple Leafs Prediction, NHL Odds & Best Bets (11/8)

Fact checked at 8:12 AM ET, Nov 8, 2026
Odds as of 7:13 AM ET, Nov 8, 2026
The Devils (12-5-0) visit the Maple Leafs (8-8-2) at 7:00 PM ET in Toronto, and both teams are on the second night of a back-to-back. New Jersey has won four straight and eight of its last nine, the latest a 5-4 overtime comeback on Long Island last night that Jack Hughes finished. Toronto has lost four of five, including a 4-2 home loss to Montreal last night in which Morgan Rielly, the Leafs' top-scoring defenseman, left in the second period with a lower-body injury. His status for tonight is unclear.
New Jersey's scoring should keep running through the Hughes line, with the third line left to check rather than shoot, and both picks come out of that split. New Jersey is a -154 favorite, and the total is 6.5, with 77% of the bets and 88% of the money on the Over. The league's status report says Anthony Stolarz will start for Toronto; New Jersey hasn't named its goalie.
Devils vs. Maple Leafs Predictions
- Pick #1: Anthony Mantha Under 1.5 Shots on Goal (-145)
- Pick #2: Arseny Gritsyuk Over 0.5 Points (+110)
PICK #1: Anthony Mantha Under 1.5 Shots on Goal (-145)
New Jersey fires almost 34 shots a game, and Mantha barely gets any of them. He has 21 shots in 17 games, about 1.2 a night, and he has finished at one or fewer in 12 of the 17. He has never had more than three. The Under at -145 implies 59.2%, and he's cleared that all season.
His role is why. Mantha skates about 13 and a half minutes a night on the third line with Evan Rodrigues and Jesper Boqvist, and he plays on the second power-play unit, where he has no points this season. Last night looked like most of his games: no shots on goal in 13:27, plus an assist on Rodrigues's goal.
Last season, with Pittsburgh, he averaged about 15 minutes and close to two shots a game, and this Under would have cashed less than half the time. If New Jersey moves him up the lineup, that version of Mantha could come back, and tonight's lines are only projected from last night's. Toronto also allows 29.6 shots a game, so a big Devils shooting night could spill down to the third line.
PICK #2: Arseny Gritsyuk Over 0.5 Points (+110)
Gritsyuk plays left wing on Jack Hughes's line with Jesper Bratt, and the line is rolling. Hughes leads the Devils with 23 points, has points in seven of his last eight games and has put up multiple points in four straight. Gritsyuk has 13 points (8 goals, 5 assists) in 17 games and has scored a point in 10 of them. Last night he set up Declan Chisholm's goal with Bratt.
At +110, the price implies 47.6%, and his season rate is 58.8%. Toronto has allowed 3.28 goals a game and may be without Rielly, the defenseman who plays the second-most even-strength minutes on the team.
You're betting on the current role here. As a rookie last season he scored a point in just over a third of his games, and he went without one in the two games before last night. Stolarz is 5-1-0 with a .910 save percentage, the best numbers in Toronto's crease. His spot next to Hughes is projected from last night's lines, and if New Jersey shuffles them and he moves off that line, the case gets weaker.
