The Lions need to keep winning to keep pace in the NFC playoff picture, while the Cowboys enter this one after winning back-to-back home games over the Eagles and Chiefs.

This is a game that is a lot more compelling than most would’ve thought before the season. We believe the visitors can keep things close and potentially even win outright on Thursday. There is so much to like about this Dallas offense, as the Cowboys are currently one of the most efficient units in football. Brian Schottenheimer’s team is playing with supreme confidence at the moment, and it certainly helps matters that Dak Prescott is playing at an MVP level. 

On the other side, Detroit has been one of the more disappointing teams in the NFL to this point in the season. It’s clear that the Lions sorely miss having Ben Johnson as the offensive coordinator, and Dan Campbell has not exactly had consistent success as the current play caller for a group that has been up-and-down in recent weeks. This is a get-right spot for Detroit on paper, but it's hard to justify laying over a field goal with the Lions against a red-hot Dallas team this week.

Given the fact that this line is currently sitting under the key number of 54, our lean for the game total is on the Over. For starters, the elite Cowboys offense should have a pretty favorable matchup at hand against a Lions defense that has been on the downswing of late, with Detroit currently sitting at 16th in opponent-adjusted EPA per play and 17th in EPA per pass on the season. 

On the injury front, we know that Detroit’s defense has been taking on water in recent weeks, and the Lions just allowed a whopping 31 points to a Packers offense that had been struggling for weeks before that contest. Conversely, the Cowboys defense has clearly improved post-trade deadline, but this is still a Lions offense that should be able to put up at least 27 points at home. Look for another high-scoring game for both of these sides on Thursday.

For our best player prop bet for TNF, let’s target George Pickens to haul in a touchdown for the third time over the last four games. Pickens has been a pleasant surprise for Dallas this season, as the former Steeler wideout has emerged as one of the premier players at his position in the NFL.

Pickens’ unique combination of route-running acumen and incredible hands makes him a very dangerous threat, and he’s also established quite a rapport with Prescott. He's racked up at least six receptions in five consecutive games, so he should be featured plenty in the offensive game plan on Thursday, making him an attractive option to score a touchdown at plus-money.
