Two 2-4 teams meet at Lincoln Financial Field at 8:15 PM ET on ESPN and ABC, and Philadelphia is in worse shape than its record. The Eagles have lost four straight, Jalen Hurts is on injured reserve with blood clots, and Tanner McKee makes his second start at quarterback. DeVonta Smith (hamstring) and Dontayvion Wicks (ankle) are out, so rookie Makai Lemon is the top wide receiver. Saquon Barkley (hamstring) is questionable after two limited practices and a full one to close the week. Dallas has lost two in a row but still has Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens.

The market has swung hard. Philadelphia opened as a 3-point favorite; Dallas is now -4.5 (-108) and -220 on the moneyline, and the total has dropped from 48.5 to 44. The forecast is clear, around 60 degrees, with almost no wind.

We expect this game to be won on the ground. Philadelphia has a backup quarterback and no top receivers, so it hands the ball to Barkley against one of the league's worst run defenses. Dallas wins by finishing drives with Javonte Williams, Prescott throws one touchdown pass or none, and the score stays in the low 40s. Something like 24-17 Dallas cashes all three picks.

Cowboys vs. Eagles Predictions

  • Pick #1: Saquon Barkley Over 70.5 Rushing Yards (-112)
  • Pick #2: Javonte Williams Anytime Touchdown (-170)
  • Pick #3: Dak Prescott Under 1.5 Passing Touchdowns (+104)

PICK #1: Saquon Barkley Over 70.5 Rushing Yards (-112)

Dallas allows 149.8 rushing yards per game, 31st of 32 teams, and plays without linebacker Dee Winters (calf). An offense with McKee at quarterback and no Smith or Wicks needs a matchup like that, and Barkley is the one who can use it.

He has played two full games this season and cleared this number in both, with 83 yards against Washington in Week 1 and 82 at Chicago in Week 3. Without him the run game went quiet: Dameon Pierce ran for 14 and 35 yards in the two games Barkley missed, and McKee's start ended in a 25-14 home loss to Carolina. At -112 the Over implies a 52.8% chance, and a healthy Barkley against this front should do better than that.

Health is the worry. Barkley played only 12 snaps in Week 2 and four in Week 4 before missing two games, so a lighter workload with Pierce mixing in could leave him short. If he doesn't play, the prop doesn't stand. Dallas also expects linebacker DeMarvion Overshown back; he hasn't played since Week 1 and is off the final injury report.

PICK #2: Javonte Williams Anytime Touchdown (-170)

If Dallas wins this game, Williams is the most likely way it scores. He has a rushing touchdown in five of six games and seven overall, three of them against Houston. The only game he didn't score in was the 37-20 win over Washington, when Prescott threw four touchdown passes, and that isn't the game we expect here.

Philadelphia allows 119.3 rushing yards per game, 21st in the league, and Dallas is favored by 4.5. The -170 price implies a 63.0% chance. He has scored in 83% of his games, and this run defense is no reason to expect less. He isn't efficient between the 20s, with under 4 yards a carry in five of six games, but this bet needs only one short run.

PICK #3: Dak Prescott Under 1.5 Passing Touchdowns (+104)

Prescott has thrown exactly one touchdown pass in each of his last four games, against Green Bay, Tampa Bay, Houston and Baltimore. His two Overs came in the first two weeks, against the Giants and Washington, which makes it 4 of 6 under 1.5. At +104 the Under implies a 49.0% chance.

If Dallas finishes drives on the ground, one touchdown pass or none is the likely result. The total has fallen from 48.5 to 44 since it opened, and 69% of the money on the total is on the Under.

The Eagles' pass defense is the threat. It allows 253.8 passing yards per game, tied for 25th, and Dallas scores 25.17 points per game against a Philadelphia defense allowing 22.83, 17th in the league. Two red-zone throws beat this, and Prescott has thrown 54 and 42 passes in his last two games.
