Online sports betting went live in Connecticut in October 2021. The state issued just three licenses: one to each of the tribes that own Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, and one to the Connecticut Lottery. That is why you have exactly three sportsbook apps here, DraftKings, FanDuel and Fanatics, and we recommend all of them.

Below is our list of the best Connecticut apps, then a closer look at each sportsbook and why the state wants some apps gone. Further down are the age and college rules, online casino, taxes and the questions people ask us most.

Offers checked November 4, 2026. Terms apply to every offer, so read them on the operator's site before you sign up.

Connecticut app reviews

The cards below explain how each app works in Connecticut and list the welcome offer we checked.

1. FanDuel

FanDuel holds its Connecticut license through the Mohegan Tribe and runs the retail sportsbook at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville. It has been here since launch week in October 2021.

The app is quick, and same game parlays take a few taps. FanDuel also runs Mohegan Sun's online casino.

2. DraftKings

DraftKings is the online partner of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, owners of Foxwoods, and it runs the sportsbook inside the resort. It launched with FanDuel in October 2021.

Daily odds boosts are its strength, and every bet earns Dynasty Rewards. DraftKings Casino is Foxwoods' online casino.

3. Fanatics

Fanatics is the Connecticut Lottery's sportsbook. It took over from PlaySugarHouse in December 2023, and the Lottery's retail betting sites, including the Fanatics Sportsbook at PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford, now carry its name.

Every bet earns FanCash, which you can spend on bets or on jerseys and gear.

Read our full Fanatics review, or claim the offer here.

4. Underdog

Underdog runs sports prediction markets on its own CFTC-regulated exchange. In Connecticut only that prediction product is offered; Pick'em and Best Ball drafts are not. The Department of Consumer Protection sent Underdog's prediction arm a cease-and-desist order in September 2026, and the two sides were still talking in October.

Trading involves risk, including total loss on positions

5. Kalshi

Kalshi is a CFTC-regulated prediction market with no vig, limit orders at your own price and markets well beyond sports. Connecticut has acted against it several times, with a cease-and-desist order in December 2025, a state lawsuit in August 2026, and on November 3, 2026 the Second Circuit refused to block the state while Kalshi appeals. The app is still open here, but its sports contracts could be pulled if a state court rules against it.

Read our full Kalshi review, or claim the offer here.

6. Polymarket US

Polymarket US is a CFTC-regulated exchange with markets on politics, the economy, culture and sports, plus maker rebates on filled limit orders. Connecticut's Department of Consumer Protection ordered it to stop offering sports contracts in September 2026, and the two sides were still in talks in October.

18+ Only. Restrictions and eligibility requirements apply. Not available in all jurisdictions. Trading is risky. 100% loss can occur. See polymarket.com/tos for more information. The Polymarket US App serves as an independent software provider and affiliate of Polymarket US and Polymarket Clearing, the CFTC-regulated exchange and clearing organization.

7. Novig

Novig is a sports-only prediction market with commission-free pregame trades and live in-game trading, and early payouts on hedged positions. Novig's own state list includes Connecticut, but the Department of Consumer Protection sent it a cease-and-desist order in September 2026 and talks were ongoing in October. You must be 21 to trade.

Sports betting law in Connecticut

Governor Ned Lamont signed HB 6451 in May 2021, alongside new compacts with the Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan tribes. The law legalized online and retail sports betting, online casino games and online lottery sales, and put the Department of Consumer Protection in charge. Retail betting opened on September 30, 2021, and the apps followed in October.

Each tribe got one online sportsbook and one online casino, and the Connecticut Lottery got one sportsbook plus up to 15 retail betting sites. Those licenses run ten years, which is why newer brands have not been able to enter. The only change so far came in 2023, when Rush Street left its Lottery deal and Fanatics took its place.

In 2026 the state went after prediction markets. It sued Kalshi in August, and a federal judge refused to block Connecticut's enforcement. In September regulators sent cease-and-desist orders to nine other companies, saying they took bets from people under 21 and from self-excluded players and offered contracts on Connecticut college teams.

Connecticut teams to bet on

Connecticut has no NFL, NBA, MLB or NHL team, so many bettors here follow New York or Boston teams, and UConn.

  • UConn men's basketball (Big East): Reached the 2026 national title game and lost 69-63 to Michigan. Remember that UConn games are off the board in Connecticut outside tournaments.
  • UConn women's basketball (Big East): The defending champions lost to South Carolina in the 2026 Final Four, ending a 54-game winning streak.
  • Connecticut Sun (WNBA): Sold by the Mohegan Tribe to Tilman Fertitta in 2026. The league approved a move to Houston for the 2027 season.

Responsible gambling in Connecticut

Set a budget before you bet and use the deposit, wager and time limits every licensed app offers. The Connecticut Council on Problem Gambling runs a free, confidential helpline around the clock at 1-888-789-7777, with online chat at ccpg.org. The Department of Consumer Protection keeps the Connecticut Gaming Self-Exclusion List: you can sign up for one year, five years or life, and it covers online casino, sports betting, fantasy contests, keno and online lottery. Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun also keep their own on-site lists.

FAQs

Is online sports betting legal in Connecticut?

Yes. Online and retail sports betting have been legal since 2021, regulated by the Department of Consumer Protection. Three apps are licensed: DraftKings, FanDuel and Fanatics.

How old do you have to be to bet on sports in Connecticut?

You must be 21, and the same goes for online casino. Regulators have accused some prediction apps of taking younger players, which is one reason the state has ordered them to stop.

Which Connecticut sportsbook should I download first?

We would start with FanDuel for its simple app and same game parlays. DraftKings is close behind for odds boosts, and Fanatics is worth adding if you want FanCash on every bet.

Can you bet on UConn in Connecticut?

Only in a tournament. Connecticut bans bets on games involving its own college teams, but you can bet on UConn during events like the NCAA tournament.

Is online casino legal in Connecticut?

Yes. Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun each run one online casino, DraftKings Casino and Mohegan Sun Casino by FanDuel. You must be 21 and inside the state.

Do you pay tax on sports betting winnings in Connecticut?

Yes. Winnings are taxable income for federal and state purposes, and Connecticut taxes them under its graduated income tax, from 2% to 6.99%. Sportsbooks send a W-2G for larger wins, and you should report all winnings.

Are prediction markets legal in Connecticut?

The state says no when they offer sports contracts. Connecticut has sued Kalshi and ordered nine other companies to stop, and some, like ProphetX, have pulled their sports markets. The companies argue federal law covers them, and the courts have not settled it.
