The Clippers visit Chase Center for an 8:30 PM ET tip with an offense that has looked the same for five games: Darius Garland has the ball, Keaton Wagler and Brook Lopez score off the bench, and the starters around Garland get what's left. We expect more of that tonight, so we're on Garland under his rebound line, Kris Dunn under his points and Rui Hachimura under his.

Golden State is without Stephen Curry (knee management) and Draymond Green (back management) on the first night of a back-to-back, plus Jimmy Butler, Moses Moody and Kristaps Porzingis, and it's still a 2.5-point favorite. The Clippers' form explains that. They're 1-4 and 0-3 on the road, with 101 points or fewer in three of their four straight losses, and they've played every game without Bradley Beal, Brandon Ingram, Max Strus, Jordan Miller and Yanic Konan Niederhauser. We only have four or five Clippers games to go on, so last season's numbers are in here as a check.

Clippers vs. Warriors Predictions

  • Pick #1: Darius Garland Under 2.5 Rebounds (+105)
  • Pick #2: Kris Dunn Under 8.5 Points (-120)
  • Pick #3: Rui Hachimura Under 15.5 Points (-120)

PICK #1: Darius Garland Under 2.5 Rebounds (+105)

Garland had zero rebounds in 37 minutes at the Lakers, his longest night of the season, so more time hasn't meant more boards. He's at 2, 1, 4, 0 and 1, newest first, for an average of 1.6. Six teammates average at least 4.4, with Isaiah Jackson and Hachimura on top at 5.8.

Five games is a small sample, but the longer record says the same thing. He averaged 2.4 last season between Cleveland and the Clippers and stayed under 2.5 in 29 of 45 games, or 64.4%. At +105, the implied chance is only 48.8%.

The market leans the other way, with the Over at -138. Golden State makes 15.7 threes a game, third in the league, and long misses tend to find guards; he had 4 in 36 minutes at Oklahoma City. He also took a hard fall in the home loss to the Lakers while playing through back tightness and finished with a season-low 26 minutes. He played 31 at Minnesota after that and isn't on the latest injury report. Most books void the prop if a player sits.

PICK #2: Kris Dunn Under 8.5 Points (-120)

Dunn starts next to Garland and takes 5.4 shots a game in 30.4 minutes. That's how you get 5, 5, 15, 7 and 7 points, newest first. He scored 5 in 31 minutes at Minnesota and 7 in 34 at the Lakers, so time on the floor hasn't pushed him past this number, and with Wagler (14.4) and Lopez (13.8) scoring off the bench we don't see that changing.

This isn't new, either. He averaged 7.3 points in 27.2 minutes last season and stayed under 8.5 in 52 of 82 games, 63.4%, against the 54.5% that -120 implies.

The miss this season was the 15 at Oklahoma City, on 6-of-7 shooting with five steals, and that's the way this goes wrong: Dunn gets into the passing lanes and scores in the open floor against a Warriors team allowing 115.3 a game, 18th in the league. That is only five games of evidence.

PICK #3: Rui Hachimura Under 15.5 Points (-120)

Hachimura is the starter getting shots, and they aren't falling. He's 14 of 49 from the field, 28.6%, with 12, 5, 16 and 10 points in his four games, newest first. The one miss was 16 in 33 minutes at the Lakers. He sat out the home loss to the Lakers with left quad soreness, then scored 12 on 4-of-11 shooting in 26 minutes at Minnesota, and he isn't on the latest injury report.

He's taking 12.3 shots a game, up from 8.8 with the Lakers last season, when he averaged 11.5 points and stayed at 15 or under in 54 of 68 games. That's 79.4%, and this price implies 54.5%.

Four games is a very short look. He shot 51.4% overall and 44.3% from three last season, so those 12 shots could turn into 16 or 18 on one normal night, and Golden State's frontcourt is thin with Green and Porzingis out. But with Garland taking 17.8 shots a game and the bench scoring, Hachimura needs a better shooting night than he's had in three of his four games with the Clippers.
