Chiefs vs Giants NFL Week 3 SNF Picks
Sunday Night Football in Week 3 provides a matchup between two surprising 0-2 teams: the Kansas City Chiefs and the New York Giants. For the Chiefs, it’s the first time since 2014 that they’ve lost their first two games of the season.
The Giants, led by Russell Wilson, have shown flashes on offense with guys like Malik Nabers, but still can’t seem to find consistency on either side of the ball. This is a huge game for both teams. A win here doesn’t fix everything, but a loss puts serious pressure on their seasons moving forward. Let’s break down the best picks for what should be an intriguing primetime showdown.

Pick #1: Chiefs -6.5 over Giants (-110)
This line makes sense. The Chiefs haven’t looked like the juggernaut we’re used to, but let’s be honest, it’s still Patrick Mahomes. He’s had to deal with a patchwork receiver group so far and that’s clearly limited the offense. Rashee Rice is suspended, Xavier Worthy and Jalen Royals are dealing with injuries, and the chemistry just hasn’t been there with Travis Kelce for the most part. But Mahomes always finds ways to win, especially in games he knows he needs to have against worse teams.
On the other side, the Giants are coming off a 40-37 shootout overtime loss to the Cowboys. We thought heading into the season that their defense was going to be their best unit, but they have not performed up to expectations. The Giants will make some plays, but when it comes to crunch time, expect Kansas City to pull away. A touchdown win feels like the way to go, even with the Chiefs not firing on all cylinders.
Pick #2: Under 45.5 Total Points (-110)
This isn’t a game that screams “shootout.” Yes, the Giants have moved the ball well at times and have some firepower in the passing game, but they’ve also made a ton of mistakes in key spots and scored just six points in Week 1. Turnovers, penalties, and red zone struggles have kept them from fully capitalizing on their yardage.
The Chiefs, meanwhile, are in a weird spot. Their offense has been clunky, especially with Mahomes having to rely more on tight ends and his legs than any consistent receiving threat. They’re still capable of putting up points, but the offensive flow isn’t there right now. Plus, when they score, it is typically by way of very long, methodical drives that cause more opportunities for mistakes.
Factor in the pressure of both teams trying to avoid a 0-3 start and you could see a more conservative, mistake-averse approach from both sides. Add in potential clock-chewing drives from both quarterbacks and a few empty red zone trips, and the under becomes very appealing.
Pick #3: Patrick Mahomes over 27.5 Rushing Yards (-116)
Mahomes has always been more mobile than he gets credit for, but this year, he’s had no choice but to use his legs more often. With his top wide receivers out or limited and the offensive line giving up more pressure than usual, Mahomes has escaped the pocket early and often.
He’s already posted a couple of solid rushing totals this season, including 57 yards in Week 1 and 66 yards last week. That trend should continue against a Giants defense that struggled to contain Jayden Daniels in Week 1, allowing 68 yards. New York’s front seven hasn’t done a great job setting the edge or staying disciplined on pass rush lanes, which gives Mahomes plenty of opportunities to break off chunk runs on third downs or broken plays.
Kansas City does not design runs for Mahomes, but he should hit this over just from doing what he does best: improvising. With how this matchup sets up, 30+ rushing yards from him wouldn’t be surprising at all.
