Chargers vs. Rams Prediction, NFL Week 8 Odds & Best Bets (11/1)

Fact checked at 8:21 AM ET, Nov 1, 2026
Odds as of 7:28 AM ET, Nov 1, 2026
The Chargers (0-6) and Rams (3-4) kick off at 4:05 PM ET on Fox at SoFi Stadium, with the Chargers as the road team in their own building. We don't think the bye fixed anything. The Chargers stay in the teens, Justin Herbert turns it over while chasing, and the Rams run their way to a win that never becomes a shootout. That gets us a Herbert interception, the Under and a Kyren Williams touchdown.
The Rams are -6.5 (-108) with the total at 45.5. The spread has come down from the -7 most books opened with, and the Chargers hold 59% of the spread bets and 72% of the money. They get Joe Alt, Ladd McConkey and Tre' Harris back, and Mike McDaniel keeps the play-calling.
Chargers vs. Rams Predictions
- Pick #1: Justin Herbert Over 0.5 Interceptions (-140)
- Pick #2: Under 45.5 (-110)
- Pick #3: Kyren Williams Anytime TD (-135)
PICK #1: Justin Herbert Over 0.5 Interceptions (-140)
Herbert entered the week as the only quarterback with an interception in every game, eight on 180 attempts. Six games isn't many, but you can't pin it on the receivers being out: four of the eight came in the three games Alt, McConkey and Harris all played. He also threw one in 11 of 16 regular-season games last year. That's 17 of 22 over two seasons, and -140 only implies 58.3%.
A team getting almost a touchdown will have to throw, and the Chargers already lead the league with 15 giveaways. Herbert has been sacked 21 times behind a line that has started four rookies in recent weeks, with Rashawn Slater on injured reserve and Kayode Awosika out. The Rams have picked off a pass in five of their seven games.
They only have five interceptions and 10 sacks, though, and Trent McDuffie is questionable. The other risk is the game plan. All eight of Herbert's picks came on throws of 10 or more air yards, and the Chargers have talked about trimming the playbook. A steady diet of short throws would take this away.
PICK #2: Under 45.5 (-110)
The Chargers are last in the league at 15 points a game and haven't scored more than 23. With Alt, McConkey and Harris all playing, they scored 14, 14 and 16. Five of their six games stayed under this number, and the most anyone has scored on them is Seattle's 30. Give the Rams that 30 and the Chargers their average, and you land at 45.
There's no line move to lean on here, since the total opened around 45.5 at most books and is still there. The Under holds 55% of the bets and 55% of the money, and -110 implies 52.4%.
The Rams' offense is what can sink this. It averages 399.1 yards a game, and their last five games totaled 56, 34, 71, 44 and 56. Opponents scored 30, 37 and 21 in the three big ones, however, and the Chargers have reached 21 once. Their secondary is thin, with Derwin James on injured reserve, Deane Leonard out, and cornerbacks Donte Jackson and Rodney Shelley questionable. The Rams' own defense, without Poona Ford and Kobie Turner, let Kirk Cousins throw for 295 last week. If the Chargers' healthier offense gets into the 20s, this loses.
PICK #3: Kyren Williams Anytime TD (-135)
If the Rams win this on the ground, Williams is the back we want finishing drives. He has scored in 5 of 7 games, with five of his six touchdowns coming as a runner, and he scored in 10 of 17 last season. That's 15 of 24 over two seasons against an implied 57.4%.
The Chargers allow 123.8 rushing yards a game, 21st in the league, and five of their six opponents have run for 106 or more. The Rams just ran 38 times for 199 yards in a 35-21 win at Las Vegas, with Williams going for 99 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.
Blake Corum is the problem. He had 17 carries for 93 yards and a score in that game, has scored in three straight, and played 44% of the snaps last week, so some of the goal-line work could go his way. Williams didn't score against Denver or Arizona. Center Coleman Shelton is also questionable, with Dylan McMahon next in line if he sits.
