Celtics vs. Hornets Prediction, NBA Odds & Best Bets (11/6)

Fact checked at 8:00 AM ET, Nov 6, 2026
Odds as of 7:57 AM ET, Nov 6, 2026
Boston visits Charlotte at 7:00 PM ET at Spectrum Center in an NBA Cup East Group C game that also counts in the standings. The Celtics are 6-2 and won their group opener 125-111 over Chicago. The Hornets are 3-6, have lost five straight, and opened group play with a 95-79 loss at Washington. Jayson Tatum is back after resting in the 109-102 win over Milwaukee, and he isn't on Boston's injury report. Charlotte should come up well short on offense again. Its best shooter has gone cold, and Boston's scoring runs through Tatum and Paul George rather than Derrick White's jumper. That's a Celtics cover with Brandon Miller and White both quiet from deep.
Charlotte is again without Kon Knueppel (left hamstring strain) and Grant Williams (right hamstring strain). Moussa Diabate (right quad) and Dennis Schroder are questionable. Boston lists Payton Pritchard as questionable with a right eye abrasion.
Celtics vs. Hornets Predictions
- Pick #1: Celtics -8.5 (-110)
- Pick #2: Brandon Miller Under 3.5 Made Threes (-135)
- Pick #3: Derrick White Under 1.5 Made Threes (+145)
PICK #1: Celtics -8.5 (-110)
Charlotte scores 98.1 points a game, the fewest in the league, and its losses have been ugly: 128-81 to Atlanta, 124-91 to Detroit, 95-79 at Washington. It hasn't scored more than 104 in any of its last five games. Knueppel has played six minutes all season and Williams has missed the last five games, so tonight's roster is the same one that put up those numbers.
Boston allows 108.3 a game, sixth-fewest in the league, and gets its best player back. George is averaging 21.3 points and scored 25 against Milwaukee with Tatum out. Boston's three wins by more than nine came against Chicago twice, by 35 and 14, and at Orlando by 11.
The number asks a lot. Boston has won by nine or more in only three of eight games, it's 1-2 on the road, and it lost by 16 in its last road game, at Houston. Boston has 75% of the spread bets and 99% of the spread money, and -110 implies a 52.4% chance. We still think the gap between the league's worst offense and a top-six defense with Tatum back is wider than nine points.
PICK #2: Brandon Miller Under 3.5 Made Threes (-135)
Charlotte needs Miller to shoot it out of this slump, and he has made four or more threes in only two of nine games. His season log reads 3, 1, 3, 5, 3, 3, 5, 3, 1, and he's shooting 26.7% from deep on 11.2 attempts a game. He went 1 for 10 in the loss at Brooklyn.
He has started each of the last five games and played at least 23 minutes in all nine, so the line already assumes a full workload. With Knueppel out, Boston can tilt its perimeter defense toward him.
The Under at -135 carries a 57.4% implied probability. Miller's volume is the danger. He hit five against Washington and five against Philadelphia, and with 11 attempts a night, one good stretch gets him there.
PICK #3: Derrick White Under 1.5 Made Threes (+145)
White has made one three or none in five of Boston's eight games, and he's 12 for 41 from deep this season (29.3%). Even in his 24-point game against Milwaukee, when the club credited him with closing in Tatum's place, he went 1 for 7 from three and made all nine of his free throws.
Boston's blowouts haven't needed his shooting. In the three wins by more than 8.5 points, against Chicago twice and at Orlando, White made 1, 1 and 2 threes. With Tatum back, White's job is running the offense; he averages 5.1 assists.
At +145 the Under implies 40.8%, and it has cashed 62.5% of the time this season. The Over sits at -192, so the market expects two makes, and one extra three beats us. If Pritchard can't play, White may get more minutes and more open looks. White is expected to start.
