Odds as of 6:13 AM ET, Nov 5, 2026

Boston (11-4-1) visits PPG Paints Arena at 7:00 PM ET having allowed 2.38 goals a game, the third-fewest in the NHL. Pittsburgh (5-8-2) has lost three straight, one of them in overtime, and the last was a 3-2 home loss to Vegas. The Penguins have won only two games in regulation all season. Our bet is that Boston's defense and Jeremy Swayman keep them quiet and the better team wins a game the market prices as a coin flip.

Swayman (8-3-1, .913 save percentage) and Arturs Silovs (5-4-1, .888) are the projected starters, and neither club has confirmed. Evgeni Malkin is expected back on Pittsburgh's second line after missing the Vegas game with a lower-body injury; coach Dan Muse called him a "full go." The total is 6.5, so the market expects goals. Boston scores 3.56 a game and Pittsburgh allows 3.40, and that number rests more on the Bruins' offense than on the Penguins'.

Bruins vs. Penguins Predictions

  • Pick #1: Bruins Moneyline (-110)
  • Pick #2: Ben Kindel Under 0.5 Points (-125)

PICK #1: Bruins Moneyline (-110)

This is priced as a pick'em, and the season doesn't look like one. Boston has allowed 38 goals in 16 games. Pittsburgh has allowed 51 in 15. The Bruins are 7-2-1 in their last 10, the Penguins 3-6-1, and in goal it's Swayman at .913 against Silovs at .888.

The -110 price implies 52.4%. The market is giving Pittsburgh credit for home ice, where it's 4-2-1, and for getting Malkin back. Boston is 4-3-1 on the road, not as sharp as it has been at home, but it's still the better team at both ends. Special teams are the worry: Boston kills penalties at 76.4%, which gives Pittsburgh's power play a way back into the game. If someone other than Swayman starts for Boston, the case gets thinner.

PICK #2: Ben Kindel Under 0.5 Points (-125)

Kindel has gone without a point in 8 of 12 games this season and in 51 of 77 last season. Over 89 games, that's about two nights in three, and -125 only asks for 55.6%. He also didn't get a point in any of his three games against Boston last season.

He centers Pittsburgh's second line between Egor Chinakhov and Malkin, the trio the Penguins put together when he came off injured reserve. For him to get on the board, that line has to beat a defense that has allowed the third-fewest goals in the league, with Swayman behind it.

This one carries some risk. Malkin, who has six goals in 13 games, is back on his wing, and Kindel skated on the top power-play unit in Pittsburgh's last practice. Only one of his six points this season has come on the power play, though, and last season he had 10 power-play points and still went pointless in two of every three games. A Pittsburgh power-play goal against that 76.4% penalty kill is the likeliest way this loses. The lines are projected.
