Broncos vs. Panthers Prediction, NFL Week 9 Odds & Best Bets (11/8)

Fact checked at 8:13 AM ET, Nov 8, 2026
Odds as of 7:12 AM ET, Nov 8, 2026
Denver (6-2) takes a four-game winning streak to Charlotte for a 1:00 PM ET kickoff against Carolina (3-4), and both quarterbacks should be able to do their damage with their arms. Carolina fired defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero after a 27-19 loss at Green Bay. Todd Wash calls his first game as interim coordinator without linebackers Bobby Okereke and Jaelan Phillips or rookie cornerback Will Lee III, and Jaycee Horn is already on injured reserve. Denver is short at safety too, with Brandon Jones out and Talanoa Hufanga questionable. Denver is a 2.5-point favorite, the total is 44.5, and the kickoff forecast calls for sun, the mid-60s and a light breeze.
The way we see it, both offenses throw their way past 44.5 against thin secondaries, and Bo Nix does his work as a passer, not a runner. Both picks assume Nix and Bryce Young start as expected.
Broncos vs. Panthers Predictions
- Pick #1: Bo Nix Under 13.5 Rushing Yards (-109)
- Pick #2: Over 44.5 (-110)
PICK #1: Bo Nix Under 13.5 Rushing Yards (-109)
For two seasons Nix was one of the league's busier running quarterbacks. This year he has mostly stopped. He has 114 rushing yards on 32 carries through eight starts, he's stayed under 13.5 in seven of them, and he ran for 4 yards against Kansas City last week. He came into the season off two surgeries on his right ankle, and Sean Payton has said getting him to run more isn't near the top of his list.
Arizona was the exception. Nix broke a 62-yard touchdown run there and finished with 73 yards. Take out that one play and he has 52 yards on his other 31 carries, and he hasn't carried more than seven times in any game. So this bet loses to one long run, not to how Denver uses him week to week.
Carolina will try to flush him. It has blitzed on 42.6% of opposing dropbacks, second-highest in the league, and Wash has promised an attack mentality. Still, Nix has little reason to tuck it in this matchup. Lee is out, Horn is on injured reserve and Carolina elevated two cornerbacks from the practice squad for this game, so the easier yards are downfield. The Under at -109 implies a 52.2% chance, and he's gone under in seven of eight starts.
PICK #2: Over 44.5 (-110)
Carolina's defense ranks 28th in scoring at 27.6 points a game. Right before the coordinator change it gave up 43 to Tampa Bay and 27 at Green Bay. Wash has had three practices to fix that, and he has to do it without Okereke, Phillips and Lee. Denver's offense, meanwhile, comes in off 30 at Arizona and 28 against Kansas City.
Carolina can score back. It puts up 25.4 points a game, ninth in the league, and Young threw for at least 281 yards in each of his first five starts. He gets a Denver secondary without Jones, who appeared to reinjure his hamstring against Kansas City, and maybe without Hufanga, who has missed three straight games. A dry, calm afternoon helps both passing games. The money on the total sits mostly with the Over, 72% of it from 51% of the bets, and -110 implies a 52.4% chance.
Carolina's offense stalling is how this goes wrong. It scored 13 against Tampa Bay and 19 at Green Bay, and Young was sacked 11 times in those two games. Left guard Damien Lewis is out again. Denver pressures quarterbacks more than any defense in the league and allows 20.6 points a game, 11th. If that pass rush takes over, Carolina won't hold up its end. These teams' games have gone over 44.5 in 7 of 15 this season.
