Our first pick for this game will target the Denver Broncos to cover the spread. Denver comes into this game with a record of 9-2 and is leading the AFC West. As it stands, the Broncos are now considered one of the best teams in the NFL, especially after beating the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11. Denver has since had its bye week, meaning it has had extra time to prepare for this game against the Commanders.

Washington, on the other hand, enters this game with a record of 3-8. The Commanders are also coming off their bye week; however, they most recently lost to the Miami Dolphins in Week 11 in Madrid, Spain. 

The Broncos are about a touchdown favorite in this matchup, which is a fitting number given how both teams’ seasons have gone. Denver has won its nine games by an average margin of 7.6 points per game, but have won each of its last three games by three points each. That being said, the Commanders are still likely going to be without their starting quarterback, Jayden Daniels. He is listed as questionable, but even if he does play, he may not be 100%.

In games that Washington’s backup quarterback, Marcus Mariota has started, the Commanders have gone 1-4 straight up and have lost by an average margin of 13.3 points per game. The good news for the Commanders is that several defensive players are questionable to return from injury, uncertain whether they will return to the field for this game or not. This includes cornerback Patrick Surtain III, linebacker Alex Singleton, and linebacker Jonah Elliss.

Denver, on the other hand, has been somewhat inconsistent offensively, despite its record. The Broncos average 23.4 points per game this season, but just 16.7 points over its last three games.
