Baltimore opened as a 3.5-point favorite in this AFC North game, with the total in the low 50s. Now Cincinnati is laying 3 and the total sits at 46.5. That swing is about Lamar Jackson. He hurt his ankle in Week 4 against Tennessee, and the Ravens have ruled him out for a third straight game, so Tyler Huntley starts again. Huntley led a comeback win in Atlanta, but in Cleveland the Ravens scored 10 points on their first two drives and nothing after that in a 13-10 loss. The defense is thin as well. Safety Jaylinn Hawkins (knee) is out, and outside linebacker Tavius Robinson is on injured reserve with a season-ending pectoral injury.

Cincinnati (3-2) comes off its bye with no player given a game status on its final injury report. Baltimore is 4-2. Kickoff is 1:00 PM ET Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium on CBS, and the forecast is sunny, mid-60s, with almost no wind.

We think Joe Burrow's offense controls this game against a Huntley-led team and a defense down two regulars. Both picks need that. Chase Brown piles up yards as the Bengals lean on him, and Ja'Marr Chase finishes drives.

Bengals vs. Ravens Predictions

  • Pick #1: Chase Brown Over 67.5 Rushing + Receiving Yards (-111)
  • Pick #2: Ja'Marr Chase Anytime Touchdown (+100)

PICK #1: Chase Brown Over 67.5 Rushing + Receiving Yards (-111)

Brown has two ways to get to this number, and he's needed both of them. He's cleared 67.5 rushing plus receiving yards in 4 of his 5 games: 78 against Tampa Bay, 82 at Houston, 69 at Pittsburgh, 81 against Jacksonville and 60 at Miami. Jacksonville held him to 10 rushing yards on nine carries, and he still caught 11 passes for 71 yards. Houston held him to 2 receiving yards, and he ran 20 times for 80. He's had between 9 and 20 carries every week and has played about 70% of Cincinnati's offensive snaps this season.

Baltimore's run defense is ordinary, allowing 100.5 rushing yards per game, tied for 11th fewest. What's changed is who's missing. Hawkins has played 81% of Baltimore's defensive snaps this season and Robinson 72%. If the Bengals get in front of an offense that managed 10 points in Cleveland, the clock-killing carries go to Brown, and that's the game we expect.

The price is -111, which works out to a 52.6% chance. Samaje Perine is the worry. At Miami he out-carried Brown 14 to 13 and ran for 68 yards, and that was the one week Brown came up short. If Perine's role grows, the volume this bet needs shrinks.

PICK #2: Ja'Marr Chase Anytime Touchdown (+100)

When Burrow looks Chase's way, he's been scoring. He's found the end zone in 3 of 5 games, twice at Houston and once each at Pittsburgh and Miami, and he drew 9, 12 and 10 targets in those three. Both blanks came in games where he saw four targets or fewer: the opener against Tampa Bay (two catches, 12 yards) and a limited day against Jacksonville. He isn't on Cincinnati's final injury report.

Even money implies a 50% chance. We'd put him higher here. Burrow has thrown 11 touchdown passes in five games, four of them at Miami, and the market has the Bengals outscoring the Ravens. Baltimore gives up 225.7 passing yards per game, tied for 10th fewest, which is middle of the pack, and now it's without Hawkins, a safety who has played 81% of its defensive snaps. Marlon Humphrey has called the matchup with Chase and Tee Higgins his biggest test yet. Keeping both of them in front for four quarters without Hawkins is a lot to ask.

Chase's yardage has been modest. He's topped 82.5 receiving yards once, with 98 at Pittsburgh, while Higgins is off to the best start of his career. Higgins has said he senses Chase is "going to get it going." A touchdown bet doesn't need the big yardage day, though. It needs targets, and he's drawn at least nine in three of his five games.
