Bengals vs Giants NFL Week 6 picks
We’re five weeks into the NFL season, and Sunday Night Football for Week 6 should be a fun contest between two teams that don’t typically play each other: the Cincinnati Bengals and the New York Giants. Both teams are under .500 but are playing much better than their record indicates.
We’ve got the Bengals vs Giants picks for Sunday Night Football in Week 6, so let’s dive right in.
Bengals vs Giants Predictions
Pick #1 - New York Giants +3.5 (-110)
Pick #2 - Over 47.5 Points (-110)
Pick #3 - Ja’Marr Chase Over 5.5 Receptions (-135)
PICK #1 - New York Giants +3.5 over Cincinnati Bengals (-105)
We’ll begin our Bengals vs Giants picks by taking New York +3.5 over the Cincinnati Bengals. There’s no doubt the Giants have played some inspired football in the last week or so as they traveled to Seattle and beat the Seahawks 29-20 in Week 5. The crazy thing is that they pulled off that upset without Malik Nabers and Devin Singletary. There’s a chance they may not have either again, as Nabers has yet to get on the practice field or progress meaningfully following his Week 4 concussion. Singletary’s groin injury could lead to another game of Tyrone Tracy toting the rock, where he put up 129 rushing yards on the Seahawks last week. However, the former Bills RB was a limited participant in practice at the end of the week and should be back in the lineup.
The Bengals don’t have a great defense, and Daniel Jones has been excellent over his last four starts, with six touchdowns to just one interception. It’s certainly possible a shootout breaks out in this game, but if it doesn’t, that swings to the home team Giants’ favor, as they controlled the clock throughout their game last week with extended drives. Because of how well the Giants are playing on offense and how porous the Bengals’ defense has been, we’ll take the Giants +3.5 (-110) for Sunday Night Football.
PICK #2: Over 47.5 Points (-110)
The next pick in the Bengals vs Giants SNF game is taking the over on 47.5 points. We just talked about how the Bengals’ defense isn’t anything to write home about, as they’re the sixth-worst team in the NFL in defensive EPA/play allowed. Well, the Giants aren’t that great themselves, as they’re the 12th-worst team in that same stat. The Bengals are also one of the most one-dimensional teams in the league, with the fifth-best pass rate over expected (4%) in the NFL, so they pass above expectation, which is great for scoring points and hitting overs.
With the Giants' offense putting up 29 points last week with this same cast of characters against what is a tougher defense than the Bengals, it seems natural that the Giants should be able to move the ball. The Bengals should move the ball with their elite passing game. Interestingly, both Chase Brown and Zack Moss have been banged up in practice, so if one or both don’t play on Sunday Night, it could be a passing exhibition for the Bengals. I like taking the Over 47.5 Points (-110) in what should be a fun, offensive play at MetLife Stadium.
PICK #3: Ja’Marr Chase Over 5.5 Receptions (-135)
Our final Bengals vs Giants pick for Sunday Night Football is taking Ja’Marr Chase to go Over 5.5 Receptions (-135). With the running game possibly limited if Chase Brown and Zack Moss miss or are limited in their availability, the passing game should be featured almost exclusively. The Bengals had 39 pass attempts, and Chase put up a massive 12-target, 10-reception outing for 193 yards and two touchdowns against the Baltimore Ravens in a 41-38 shootout last week. Asking Chase to put up just six catches on an offense that already passes more in all situations with Joe Burrow slinging it? Easy game.
While the threat of Tee Higgins looms for the general upside of Chase, it matters less for the Bengals. In particular, because of how condensed of an offense they are and who they give their routes to. Cincinnati typically doesn’t use many backups with their wide receivers with Chase, Higgins and Andrei Iosivas, so the pie in which targets are earned is much greater for the Bengals than other teams. For those reasons, we’ll take Chase’s Over 5.5 Receptions (-135) to the bank for Sunday Night Football.
